Head Registered Veterinary Nurse

We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Head Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our friendly team on a full-time basis.
We are a 5-vet practice, and they are currently supported by 3 RVN's and 2 SVN's as well as 5 Client Care Advisors. We are a dynamic practice with surgery certificate holders amongst our vets. We aim to offer a very high standard of care for our patients across a wide range of cases.
We have all the facilities to support this with laparoscopic surgery, endoscopy, dental x-ray, doppler BP monitoring, capnography, pulse oximetry and k-laser. We perform a full range of orthopaedic and soft tissue surgeries including TPLO’s and BOAS surgeries.
Our nursing team are all involved in these cases and so there are significant opportunities to scrub into theatre, do complex anaesthetics and help with medical investigations and inpatient care, along with a range of nurse clinic appointments.
We are also happy to support all staff members with opportunities for further development so any desire to do additional certificates and training is encouraged and will be considered.
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Working closely with the clinical, non-clinical teams and management to deliver the best levels of patient and customer care, taking full ownership of tasks and responsibilities
- Be responsible and accountable for leading the nursing team
- Oversee the running /order of the day
- To work as an active member of the clinical support team
- To fully participate in the Nursing rota
- Oversee ordering of stock and management of stock control
- Comply with all policies and procedures within the surgery, including Health and Safety Regulations
- We are looking for a highly motivated, forward thinking, and proactive nurse with strong communication and people skills in order to lead the team to deliver exceptional clinical and client care.
- As Head Nurse you will play a key part within the management team to ensure financial and operational performance of the practice as well as the nursing team performance and Wellbeing.
- We are a training practice supporting student nurses so holding a clinical coach qualification or willing to train would be advantageous but not necessary, for this reason good all-round nursing skills are essential.
