Job description
We are looking for an experienced pizza chef to take over the running of our pizza kitchen in our flagship, 600-capacity Shoreditch venue.
The venue:
This venue opened in 2016 and is becoming an iconic venue in the heart of Shoreditch. It trades 6 days a week and is a varied operation with a constantly changing ticketed calendar of events, DJs, a high-energy cocktail bar, a ball pit, a karaoke room and a photo booth! And, of course, we serve made-from-scratch Neapolitan-style pizza from opening until 1 hour before closing time.
The role:
If you have a few years of experience running your own pizza kitchen crew you will (hopefully) already understand the role well, however for us, the key responsibilities you will have are:
- Quality - ensuring that the Ballie food experience is always delivered to our guests. Service + standards - always on point and delivering immaculate vibes . We really mean this, it isn't just lip service; check out our reviews!
- People - you will lead, manage and have accountability for the kitchen team in the venue and be part of the wider venue management team too.
- Compliance - Though you will have tons of support from the wider ops team (e.g. maintenance and property manager etc) and our central sales and marketing team, you need to be able to keep your kitchen, team and working practices immaculate, just like our vibes!
What this role is:
You'll have the freedom to lead and manage your team and deliver a food experience in line with the Ballie way. You'll work to hit key targets for quality/experience, compliance and revenue. Since we operate with a large percentage of our food orders 'pre-booked', you can effectively plan your team schedules, ordering and other duties to ensure a really productive and slick operation for everyone.
As a growing business, there will be real opportunities to head up new kitchen openings in the U.K and even internationally or develop into other central support team roles too after a couple of years in the role.
Our ideal person:
- Someone with a genuine passion for pizza and dough.
- An individual with a keen and enthusiastic personality that has excellent attention to detail.
- Someone with a presence in their team with the ability to deliver in a high-volume kitchen.
- Lead with calmness and confidence.
You will likely have:
- Real previous kitchen management experience in high-volume operations.
- Worked in larger branded operations, but spent some time in a smaller growing business too.
- Excellent knowledge of dough making and Neapolitan-style pizza
- Good knowledge of flours and speciality products
- A confident, outgoing and strong presence amongst the team, yet still able to be approachable.
- Excellent attention to detail and a real ability to get the right things done at the right time.
- A personal love of the art of pizza-making, delivering quality and making people happy.
