PURPOSE OF ROLE


This role will lead the trading & pricing strategy and define future test and learn approaches across all PLT channels & markets. This is a new role with significant potential to develop infrastructure and maximise commercial opportunities.

The role will map out and define an optimal market lead trading calendar that links across all business functions. Incorporating pricing & promotional stance alongside marketing & content channels. Ensuring competitiveness and commerciality of trading events.

Acting as the key point of contact and gatekeeper for the trading approach to ensure revenue, profit and sell through targets are achieved.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

High level scope:

  • Responsible for defining the promotional & pricing strategy across events to ensure we remain competitive and profitable throughout the lifecycle of product.
  • Define a test and learn approach to drive optimal Lifecycle Price Management across each of our regions.
  • Gatekeeper for all commercial trading decisions and accountable for modelling each action to consistently ensure commerciality.
  • Hands on execution role with support from data and reporting teams, you will need to evaluate longer term requirements and either build or leverage resource.
  • Collaborate closely with the merchandising and finance teams. Guide weekly trade meetings with senior director stakeholders.

Key deliverables:

  • Accountable for defining the in season pricing strategy, shaping how we optimise price with knowledge and understanding of existing margin erosion.
  • Understand price elasticity and define the parameters we operate within to determine how we use it as part of our trading levers.
  • Establish and review trading calendar framework working in close collaboration with Merchandising & Commercial Director.
  • Set guardrails around the pricing strategy from the product landing on the website until exit, defining the layers of discounting throughout the life of that product.
  • Shape the parameters of category black price rules to ensure we remain competitively benchmarked, working collaboratively with buying & merchandising function.
  • Establish most competitive pricing proposition for each market, financially modelling and commercially stress testing to enable a clear strategy & approach.
  • Define a test learn framework and review existing data to inform the hypothesis for future tests. Ensure a clear approach to analysing the performance of each test so we understand its effectiveness.
  • Identify and develop solutions to drive insight into price benchmarking and how we drive a more automated approach to pricing activity. Enable a data lead automated trading approach to price.
  • Present new test and learn strategies, insights and actions to the senior leadership team to gain wider alignment into each action.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 8-10 years in an ecommerce trading, merchandising or finance role, of which at least 2 years’ experience as a head of department.
  • Highly analytical with the ability to interpret and take actions from data, someone who is able to ask the right questions of the data.
  • Ability to model scenarios and opportunities and able to get people on board with your proposals.
  • Able to influence and collaborate across all business functions
  • The ability to present to senior exec team
  • Process driven with strong planning skills. Able to plan/do/review across multiple time horizons
  • Strategic thinker and problem solver
  • Enabler & facilitator of change within the wider business
  • Proactive and positive mindset for growth
  • Ideally sequel database skillset to manipulate existing data
