We’re looking for a motivated head of supply chain and logistics to join Nisa. Since Nisa was acquired by Co-op in 2018, we’ve focused on combining the best of both businesses to offer something new to independent retailers and commercial wholesalers across the UK. More scale and better product ranges give Nisa partners a real competitive advantage.
In this role, we’ll look to you to make sure that we’re delivering the exceptional and dependable retail service that our customers expect. You’ll lead a multi-disciplinary team, managing Nisa’s independent supply chain and logistics network – a large scale operation that transports around 11000 deliveries to our retailers each week - whilst also working collaboratively with Co-op’s retail operations teams.
This is a fantastic opportunity for you to use your expertise to shape Nisa’s logistics and supply chain operation, working with a wide range of colleagues and external partners to find the right solutions that’ll provide new value for Nisa’s customers and suppliers.
What you’ll do
- lead a team of 21 colleagues with 5 direct reports across Nisa’s logistics and supply chain teams, taking on all leadership responsibilities for these colleagues
- provide inspiring leadership to the logistics and supply chain team, including colleagues spread across multiple locations and those working remotely to bring the teams together
- provide strategic direction for Nisa’s logistics network ensuring it supports Nisa’s broader business objectives
- collaboratively work with Nisa’s logistics partners, DHL, to deliver business plans and create a culture of continuous improvement, making sure we’re meeting key targets in line with business plans
- responsible for profit and loss performance and the logistics network and maintain a balance between cost and service
- oversee compliance with all legal requirements to ensure Nisa’s logistics operation is safe for colleagues and customers
- build meaningful relationships with Nisa’s third-party supplier base as well as colleagues, both within Nisa and Co-op
- represent supply chain and logistics in Nisa, contributing to the business direction
- create collaborative supplier relationships to improve service levels and identify value opportunities
This role would suit people who have
- extensive experience in either supply chain or logistics, with a good working knowledge of both
- great relationship building skills, with experience of managing supplier relationships and large-scale contracts
- the ability to lead and inspire a diverse team of colleagues spread across multiple locations / working remotely
- a collaborative and service-focussed approach
- the ability to manage conflicting properties, and to effectively balance cost and service
- retail and wholesale experience would be an advantage in this role
- experience operating at all levels of an organisation including board level.
