Warwick Sport are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Head of Sports Operations to lead the operations team to ensure that we deliver high quality customer service and facilities management of the campus sport facilities across 5 venues.
Reporting to the Director of Sports and Active lifestyles you will lead the Climbing Centre Manager, Health and Fitness Manager, Operations Manager, Customer Experience Manager and have overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations across 5 venues including the £49m Sports Hub. You will work closely within the Senior Leadership team to support and implement the vision, aims and values of Warwick Sport and contribute to the overall sport and university strategy.
You will lead and be accountable for the development, implementation and adherence of robust and appropriate health and safety policies, procedures and processes.

Job Description
To work within the Senior Leadership Team to support and implement the vision, aims and values of Warwick Sport and contribute to the overall sport and university strategy.
To provide effective leadership, high quality customer experience and facilities management of the campus sport facilities, across 5 venues: the Sports and Wellness Hub, Westwood (Games Hall and Tennis Centre), Cryfield, Barford Boathouse (off site), Wellesbourne (off site) for students, staff, external members, and conference delegates ensuring all facilities are clean, safe and well maintained.
To lead and be accountable for the development, implementation and adherence of robust and appropriate Health and Safety policies, procedures and processes and for training to all Warwick Sport staff.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Senior Leadership Team / Finance and Budget
- To be part of and work within the Senior Leadership Team to deliver the overall strategic plan
- To promote the business vision, mission and values, always leading by example
- To lead and manage specific projects, within agreed timescales, budget and objectives, on behalf of Warwick Sport, including major capital projects
- To be responsible for the development of the 5 Year Plan and business planning for the Operations budget with agreed parameters and to be accountable for the achievement of income and expenditure budgets, setting up relevant systems and processes as appropriate
- To lead on and have overall responsibility for health and safety, cleaning, maintenance and customer service standards across Warwick Sport, delivering against relevant targets
- To take an active role in the specification and prioritization of new capital works in relation to the Warwick sports facilities
Operations
- To lead and be accountable for the development, implementation and adherence of robust and appropriate Health and Safety policies, procedures and processes across Warwick Sport
- To ensure that all staff across Warwick Sport receive appropriate induction and refresher training appropriate to their roles and that Lifeguard training is carried out in accordance with the RLSS guidance
- Comply with current Health and Safety Legislation and compliance with the University Accident and Incident Investigation procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all University and Warwick Sport health and safety, stand operating and management policies and procedures.
- Be the nominated representative for Warwick Sport on relevant University Health and Safety Groups.
- To regularly audit and review Health and Safety and Operational standards to ensure all risk assessments and documents are in date and are appropriate and that all relevant checks have been completed
- To ensure that all Warwick Sport facilities are well maintained and subject to robust Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) schedules and that breakdowns and reactive maintenance issues are appropriately logged and resolved in a time fashion
- To ensure that all Warwick Sport facilities are subject to the highest standards of cleanliness and that robust, detailed cleaning processes and schedules are in place across all facilities
- To monitor and audit cleanliness standards across all facilities on a regular basis
- To monitor, audit and manage the cleaning contractor to deliver against the service specification
- To develop strategies and plans to analyse and improve customer satisfaction in all areas of Warwick Sport, ensuring feedback are managed appropriately and service improved where appropriate
- To lead on Warwick Sport’s efforts to obtain and manage Quest accreditation, with a target of scoring Excellent
- To line manage the Operations, Climbing and Front of House teams to ensure we deliver high standards of customer service
- To work with the Head of Sports Delivery on the development and delivery of programmes of activity within relevant areas
- To work with the Sales and Events Manager and Head of Business Development to ensure the smooth running of all events hosted at Warwick Sport
Human Resources
- To effectively lead and manage the Operations team, ensuring all aspects of effective human resource management are implemented including related to recruitment and induction, training and ongoing development, absence management and performance management
- To ensure the Operations teams is appropriately staffed and resourced at all times in accordance with Health and Safety and Standard Operating procedures
- To develop and agree appropriate, ambitious but achievable, targets for Area leads and their teams, measuring and monitoring these on a regular basis
- To regularly complete 1-1 meetings with direct reports on a formal and informal basis to support performance and wellbeing and to hold regular team meetings
