Position:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated person for this highly challenging and multi-faceted role. The Head of Site Operations will manage the IT, Facilities, Administration and Logistics operations at our state-of-the-art R&D facilities in Granta Park, Cambridge, and lead four high performing teams of 11 direct and indirect reports. The successful candidate will spearhead the delivery of capital projects, utilising internal teams, engaging appropriate consultants where necessary and taking lead on tendering contracts. On a day-to-day basis, the Head of Site Operations should work with other managers to improve the performance, productivity and efficiency of the Site Operations department as a whole.
Some key elements of the role include, but are not limited to:
- Support senior leadership to develop strategies to accommodate growth within a dynamic office / research lab space for R&D and group enabling functions at Sosei Heptares
- Lead and mentor your team and wider reports within the IT, Facilities, Administration and Logistics teams and define the overarching strategies for each team
- Foster innovation across the Site Operations department to identify, develop and implement operational improvements to drive efficiency, productivity and quality
- Establish and maintain a culture that ensures the safety of staff, community and the environment
- Implement Sustainability programmes that support the company goals and objectives
- Work with the Health & Safety Officer to ensure safe, effective systems and processes are in place, adhering to compliance procedures, laws and regulations
- Liaise with government departments where required and ensure accurate and up to date information is available to staff at all times, support R&D staff with adhering to compliance procedures, laws and regulations
Requirements:
A successful Head of Site Operations candidate would ideally have the following skills and attributes:
- Track record of managing, leading and mentoring high performing multi-faceted teams at life sciences companies
- Proven experience in a senior property management role
- Demonstrable experience of leading capital projects, for example laboratory refurbishment/refit or site relocation
- Strong leadership and management skills, exceptional communicator, detail-oriented, organised, and proactive
- Genuine enjoyment helping colleagues in the lab, sharing your knowledge, problem-solving, and taking initiative to find solutions and establish scalable workflows
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills: you're able to use these skills effectively to resolve conflicts and compromise with peers and reports
