Job description
Ryanair is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Head of Simulator (SIM) Engineering to lead the engineering team responsible for maintaining our Flight Simulation Training Devices (FSTDs). Based at one of our four Simulator Training Centres (Dublin, East Midlands, Stansted or Bergamo), reporting to the Accountable Management Team, the Head of SIM Engineering will be responsible for ensuring our FSTDs are maintained to the highest industry standard; comply with all regulatory approvals and that they meet the needs of our Approved Training Organisation (ATO).
Primary responsibilities:
- Manage and support the Flight Simulator Training Device Organisation team, responsible for the FSTDs in their simulator training centre
- Ensure that all staff in the Flight Simulator Training Device Organisation work in accordance with the standards outlined in the Compliance Monitoring Manual and Safety Management Manual
- Lead the development, installation and evaluation of new FSTDs across the organisation
- Collaborate with the ATO to identify their requirements, ensuring systems are developed to meet those requirements
- Drive reliability and serviceability improvements with the SIM manufacturers
- Ensure defect rectifications and modifications are performed in an efficient and timely manner
- Ensure all facilities associated with the FSTDO are maintained to relevant standards to ensure operational continuity
- Work with regulatory authorities to ensure all simulator approvals are maintained at the levels to support the Ryanair ATO
- Forecast and plan for future growth of the FSTDO (manpower and simulators)
- Manage and lead the integration of new technologies in the FSTDO
Requirements
- At least 5 years’ experience in a Flight Simulator Training Device Organisation
- Experience of managing simulator engineering operations
- Experience of working with civil aviation regulatory authorities
- Detailed knowledge and understanding of CS-FSTD(A) Issue 2
- Detailed understanding of EASA Part-ORA requirements for FSTD organisations
- Experience of working with compliance management and safety management systems
- Proven track record of planning skills with the ability to quickly analyse problems, implement practical solutions and drive change within an organisation
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Excellent analytical and computer skills to effectively provide reports on a weekly basis
