There has never been a more exciting time to join Age UK. With a new Strategy being established, we are recruiting for a Risk professional that can work with senior leaders to help identify and design relevant strategies to handle and mitigate strategic risks.
In this post you will support the charity to understand the benefits of high-quality risk management and being the first point of contact regarding risk related matters, act as the risk subject matter expert. You will maximise the value for money from our Internal Auditors to provide assurance, as appropriate.
Due to the Hybrid nature of this Head of Risk role, the successful applicant may be required to commute to the central London co-working hub on a regular basis, for example around four times per month.
Must haves:
- Experience of Risk Management at a senior level across a whole organisation
- Keen interest of best-in-class risk and control principles, utilising these as appropriate
- Extensive experience of working with internal auditors
- Demonstrable evidence of interpersonal and communication skills with a proven track record of building robust, collaborative, and productive relationships
- Extensive experience establishing and maximising a risk management system
- Experience of risk reporting into the Audit and Risk Committee and the Board working with the chair of the Audit Committee to ensure risk is covered appropriately 2
- Ability to support leaders who are not familiar with risk management to learn about how and why it is essential
- Experience of running risk workshops

- Previous experience of risk management within the charity sector
- Experience of working in an organisation that has launched a new strategy.
