Connect to your Industry

This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring public relations (PR) professional to join Deloitte’s busy press office and have a key role in promoting and protecting the firm’s reputation. It’s a chance to work on fast-moving areas such as the firm’s talent and people agenda, consulting, economics, tax or audit. The individual will get to showcase their results-driven and proactive PR strategies, outstanding writing skills, strong journalist connections and establish themselves as a trusted PR advisor to the business.

Connect to your career at Deloitte

Deloitte drives progress. Using our vast range of expertise, that covers audit, risk advisory, and consulting services across tax, legal, business, technology and corporate finance, we help our clients become leaders wherever they choose to compete. To do this, we invest in outstanding people. We build teams of future thinkers, with diverse talents and backgrounds, and empower them all to reach for and achieve more.

What brings us all together at Deloitte? It’s how we approach the thousands of decisions we make every day. How we behave, our beliefs and our attitudes. In other words: our values. Whatever we do, wherever we are in the world, we lead the way, serve with integrity, take care of each other, foster inclusion, and collaborate for measurable impact. These five shared values lead every decision we make and action we take, guiding us to deliver impact how and where it matters most.

Connect to your opportunity

Reporting to a PR Manager, you’ll be responsible for developing and implementing annual media relations campaigns for your areas of responsibility. You’ll do this in close collaboration with the firm’s industry and business leaders, as well as colleagues across marketing, social media, research and public affairs. With a thorough understanding of the news and business agenda, you’ll have a keen eye for what makes a good story, excellent writing standards and attention to detail for press releases, comments, blogs, social media posts and opinion pieces. Additionally, you’ll need to be able to manage and deliver multiple projects to tight deadlines and influence senior leaders and stakeholders within the business.

Specific responsibilities

  • Develop PR strategies for assigned areas, ensuring they are in line with the firm’s priorities, objectives, and wider corporate campaigns.
  • Influence and support marketing and research activities, developing new ideas with the relevant teams to ensure newsworthy insights and coverage.
  • Understand and identify issues that Deloitte spokespeople can discuss across national and trade media, including print, broadcast, and social channels.
  • Draft press releases, reactive and proactive comments, and opinion pieces
  • Help identify and create social media campaigns on your areas of responsibility
  • Identify, interview, and write up case studies of Deloitte’s people to share for internal and external use.
  • Build recognition of Deloitte partners as expert commentators on relevant business issues
  • Develop new and existing journalist relationships across key media publications
  • Manage weekly news summaries and quarterly reports on PR coverage and activity for your areas.
  • Work effectively in a diverse team within an inclusive team culture where people are recognised for their contribution

Connect to your skills and professional experience

  • Experience of public relations experience, gained either in-house or within an agency.
  • Evidence of developing and implementing strategic media relations plans.
  • Excellent writing skills and attention to detail, that will be tested during the interview process.
  • Highly organised and able to successfully manage multiple stakeholders and projects under time pressures.
  • Be a creative thinker with high standards and someone who has excellent attention to detail.
  • Commercial awareness and a solid understanding of the business landscape for Deloitte and the wider economy, with a grasp of the role External Relations can play in supporting business objectives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to build solid relationships and gain credibility with stakeholders at multiple levels.
  • Confidence to stand firm and say no when needed, while remaining diplomatic and consensus driven.
  • Motivated and equally able to work as part of a team and autonomously.

The recruitment team will provide further detail as you progress through the recruitment process.

Connect with your colleagues
