Who We Are
Founded in August 2020, Primary Care Physio has grown rapidly and already established itself as England's largest national specialist first contact musculoskeletal (MSK) physiotherapy and podiatry provider who is purely focused on supporting NHS Primary Care Networks (PCNs) and their GP practices to deliver high-quality and tech-enabled NHS primary care MSK FCP solutions.
Through our talented employed team of over 320 First Contact Practitioners & Advanced Practitioners, who are supported by experienced and Health Education England trained FCP clinical supervisors, we have been commissioned by over 170 NHS Primary Care Networks (PCNs) to deliver an integrated and local FCP managed service. We now serve 1000+ GP practices and a patient population over 7 million.
We expect our team headcount to reach over 400 in the next 12 months.
Role Profile
This is an exciting new role that the business has identified as being critical to our ongoing high scale growth, supporting the NHS in incredibly challenging times.
In this role you will be working with Regional Clinical Directors and Service Managers to profile roles, draw up candidate shortlists, approach candidates, represent the company, explain the roles, and acquire the talent.
You will be responsible for the provision of high-quality recruitment services for the orgainsation, and you will be the key to ensuring we get the right people, in the right roles, at the right time.
You will lead the recruitment strategy for the business and will take ownership and responsibility for the delivery of end-to-end recruitment processes. You will be developing recruitment systems and processes, maximising the use of technology to improve recruitment services, and reducing time to hire.
You will be integral to supporting the delivery of our workforce strategy, diversity, and people agendas. You will ensure accurate workforce data and metrics are available for senior management.
You will be working with internal stakeholders to offer the most up to date recruitment approaches, utilising social media and supporting with new strategies to recruit ‘too hard to fill’ roles and promote Primary Care Physio as an employer of choice for senior MSK clinicians.
This is a role for someone who likes a wide and varied remit, constantly juggling priorities and working on the front line with the business every day to best serve our clients and our internal colleagues. You will be someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment with constant direct interaction with the business. You will be able to operate with limited supervision and prioritise activity in line with the needs of the business, our clients, and our team members.
The role will suit someone who wants to constantly improve how we do things to make them better be that improving processes, coaching hiring managers, or refreshing our website and materials. You’ll be someone who transforms proposals into reality and have a track record of doing this elsewhere.
Reporting to the Head of People and with board-level exposure, you will have one direct report (Compliance Lead). Up to this point, the recruitment function has been entirely led by one of the three founding directors who has recruited and onboarded over 350 frontline clinicians in the past 2 years.
Based at home with occasional travel, you’ll spend your days largely on MS Teams and on the telephone, advertising vacancies, screening applicants, headhunting talent, organising interviews, and closing candidates – managing the full end-to-end recruitment process.
Key skills and attributes
- You will have knowledge of effective selection practices, experience of hiring to multiple clinical roles, functions, and disciplines as well as recruiting specialist and very senior manager roles.
- You will have experience of large-scale volume recruitment and be able to demonstrate previous supervisory experience. You will be an exceptional team player with excellent coaching and influencing skills to ensure the orgainsation receives effective recruitment services which meet and exceeds customer needs and offers a high level of customer service.
- You thrive from workng under pressure, and stay calm, in a fast-paced and changing environment.
- You possess a mature and approachable attitude towards colleagues in keeping with Primary Care physio’s coaching approach to professional development.
- You will be brilliant at communicating with an ability to work cohesively with internal and external stakeholders – you find it easy to explain things in a way which is easy for others to understand. (In person, and in writing!)

- You have MS office skills including the use of IT programmes, HR databases, and other modern/tech-based ways of working and collaborating.
To apply, you must have prior experience of working within a fast-paced specialised recruitment role (either agency or in-house), and have experience of previously using the UK Visas and Immigration Sponsorship management system (SMS).
