About the Department:
The Estates Directorate is one of the key Professional Services departments. Its role is to support all Academic and Professional Services directorates in creating a safe and fit for purpose estate and delivering an exceptional student experience.
The Estates Directorate is responsible for the delivery of an estates strategy which covers asset management & replacement, refurbishment, projects; facilities operations and space management, including sustainability and energy management.
The Directorate aims to ensure that the quality, functionality and operation of the estate and its associated infrastructure meet the needs of its users, support the activities of SOAS and provides a safe and compliant environment.
About the Role
The Head of Programmes is a new role for SOAS. The role is to lead the implementation of the School’s strategic priorities through the delivery of various change initiatives across SOAS. This will include bringing together and centralising a consistent organisational-wide approach to delivering change and innovation, and will include oversight of both revenue and capital programmes.
Reporting to the Director of Estates, the Head of Programmes will develop and lead a team to deliver the key strategic and priority business projects across the School. Implementing appropriate governance is key to provide assurance and drive delivery across the portfolio. A key element of this role will be to establish best practice PMO discipline and create change capability both and across the wider SOAS community.
About you: You will need to demonstrate:
Track record of delivering significant programmes, at a senior level, project management and managing a portfolio of multiple fast-paced and complex projects preferably in higher education.
Excellent leadership competences, encompassing innovation, delivery, team development and change management
Capability to manage relationships at senior level, and the ability to influence professional and academic colleagues.
