As Head of Programme you’ll be responsible for delivering an ambitious programme of work within our GM Commercial Change and Improvement portfolio. You’ll manage the complex delivery of interdependent initiatives, ensuring coordination and engagement with stakeholders from across the business. You will take a structured and organised approach to programme delivery, validating principles, coordinating workstream outputs, facilitating key decisions and ensuring robust governance over the programme.
What you need to do
- Provide first-class operational process development and programme management
- Work directly with senior leaders, playing a critical role in workstream(s) to bring new thinking, challenge the status quo and identify opportunities to do things better/cheaper/faster
- Work in tandem and influence Senior Stakeholders from across Commercial, Retail, Supply Chain, Tech, Finance, and other teams to help define and deliver large-scale strategic initiatives
- Manage complex delivery of programme workstreams ensuring plans are robust and progress is monitored
- Be aware of competitor developments and industry best practice to help inform our principles and approach
- Identify and manage risks, issues and dependencies
- Role model our valued behaviours through positive and collaborative ways of working with all areas of the business
- Provide inspirational, supportive and empowering leadership to your team and other colleagues through clear thinking and good communication
What you need to know and show
- Strategic orientation & well-developed hypothesis led problem solving capability
- First-class stakeholder management and relationship building capability
- Agile experience would be ideal but not essential, but should have an agile mind-set and desire to learn
- Experience working in, or alongside Commercial Trading teams
- Experience working with Tech teams to deliver complex business solutions
- Ability to innovate and implement change, combining strategic and analytical perspectives with a pragmatic approach
- Ability to anticipate risks and knock-on implications outside your team and division and defining the action plans and solutions
- Able to demonstrate previous experience of strong analytical/insight skills working with big data and complex challenges balancing customer, colleague and business benefits
- Good knowledge of macro trends and how large retailers and their suppliers operate globally now and in the future
- Deep understanding of the corporate strategy, goals and customer insights
- Knowledge of Change management frameworks
- How to inspire and develop colleagues to be the best they can be
- Deep experience in forming, nurturing, inspiring and empowering cross functional teams, across a broad range disciplines and capabilities
- Track record of successfully delivering change initiatives of scale/complexity with multiple stakeholders and broad impact
- Excellent impact and influencing skills at all levels
- How to manage through ambiguity and evolving priorities
- Have a strong knowledge of a broad range of facilitation, coaching and presentation techniques, that can be utilised across all areas of the GM Change and Improvement Programme
