Job description

We're looking for someone with significant project management experience within an FMCG environment, with a background in Cosmetics, skincare, Beauty, personal care to take responsibility for the delivery of our New Product Development (NPD) projects and the lifecycle management of new and existing products.

Based at our beautiful eco-factory in Gillingham, Dorset, with hybrid working.

This is an exciting role, working closely with the Brand team, the Head of Product Management will ensure all NPD and updates to existing products, to support the company’s overall goals and ethics, are launched in a timely and profitable manner and in line with the agreed Brand Campaign Calendar.

Main Responsibilities:

PRODUCT MANAGEMENT

  • Product data management (in line with Brand strategy)
  • EPD lifecycle management (in line with Brand strategy)
  • Management of Governance Document, including project & product commercials (in line with Brand targets)
  • Management & maintenance of NYR Brand ArchitecturFebruproduct directory

PROJECT MANAGEMENT

  • Creation of all project CPAs [EPD & NPD]
  • Defining Project resources & allocating all tasks and deadlines
  • Maintaining Project Highlight reports
  • Day to day tracking of all project tasks, ensuring team are adhering to deadlines.
  • Adjusting / updating CPAs as and when changes to deliverables occur

BUDGET MANAGEMENT

  • Managing costings of new projects and compare final to indicative cost.

REPORTING

  • Providing weekly updates on the status of Projects & KPIs for Senior Management meetings

DETAILS

  • Support the Brand Team in developing the overarching Neal’s Yard Remedies NPD and product strategy.
  • Work with the cross-functional Operations teams to ensure projects are delivered from concept ideation to launch.
  • Responsible for the NPD Gate Process and making recommendations regarding continuous improvements.
  • With the support of the Packaging Technologists, bring the sustainability agenda to life through NPD packaging and product range recommendations.
  • Manage the product lifecycle and NPD generation through development, testing and production to a successful & timely launch for all channels.
  • Always maintain clear and concise trackers for projects, key activities including Development Stages, Development Projects, Discontinuation tracker, and any other form of tracker for projects.
  • Organising the weekly Product Delivery Meetings to ensure projects that are signed off are delivered to agreed dates. This meeting goes across a wide function of NPD delivery (supply chain, formulations, and packaging).
  • Supporting the Brand Managers with the monthly Product Meetings.
  • Manage the NPD process to ensure proposals meet and pass through the various tests ensuring key stakeholders are fully aware of costs / risks associated with the activity.
  • Problem solving, and proactively working with the team to find out the source or root cause of the issue and suggest solutions.
  • Generating & completing artwork briefs with product information specific to the product.
  • Working with the Compliance Risk Analyst to ensure artworks are given the right target completion dates.
  • Reviewing artwork when circulated by the Compliance Risk Analyst, artwork review includes product information via list given to check through.
  • Completing indicative costings on new projects.
  • Produce product cost comparisons of actual to indicative and highlight to the Brand Manager if the costings are on track or out, and if out, why.
  • Monitoring timelines on projects, alerting when dates are missed and a knock-on effect to the launch of a product. Working with the team to ensure this does not happen.
  • Working on development ideas from a brief, which will entail putting together indicative timings on projects.
  • Completing prototype approval forms and development approval forms for projects.
  • Adopting a continuous improvement mindset within the team to improving processes and ways of working
  • Support the development of everyone on the team in line with NYR aims and objectives and their own personal growth plan.

Person Specification:

  • Significant project management experience within an FMCG environment.
  • To be of graduate calibre (Marketing/Business/Management preferred) or equivalent.
  • To demonstrate strong project planning capabilities & with detailed knowledge of key project planning software. Use of Smartsheet is desirable.
  • To show the ability to prioritise, manage time and resilience under pressure.
  • To be highly planned & have advanced organisational skills are a pre-requisite.
  • To demonstrate good analytical skills, with high levels of computer literacy.
  • To be a proactive self-starter, adaptable & flexible to change.
  • To possess excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • To demonstrate good interpersonal skills and strong team player.
  • To be a self-starter with completer/finisher attributes.
