What we’ll offer
Leading the Bank’s procurement agenda, being responsible for actively developing a customer-centric, best-in-class strategic procurement function. Partners with Head of Commercial Finance, Executive Committee business and functional leaders and Tesco Group Procurement in development and roll out of procurement strategy to optimise spend while improving performance and quality, driving innovation and reducing risk.
Leads cross-functional teams providing the end-to-end procurement cycle driving optimisation of the cost base to support delivery of the Bank’s strategy; and effective business partnering support to functional owners with material supplier spend and relationships.

- Strong commercial acumen and a track record of delivering insight into an organisation’s procurement base and ensuring procurement is aligned with overall business needs.
- Proven ability to continuously develop procurement across all spend categories, contract management, devising sourcing plans, develop and embed policies.
- Strong leadership capabilities across diverse teams.
- Significant experience in procurement leadership roles.
The Role
- Procurement – Develop and manage the delivery of the Bank’s sourcing, procurement and category strategies. Evolve the function from being reactive and mostly operationally centric to that of a strategic business advisor and leader with vision, driving decisions through data-driven, co-ordinated sourcing, and procurement efforts
- Stakeholder Engagement - Strategically engage with and understand the business requirements of stakeholders and business partners to be able to represent the needs of local stakeholders and market dynamics and to inform procurement strategies that enable the achievement of Bank business objectives.
- Benefits Delivery - Deliver benefits identified in strategies through effective execution aligned to assurance of supply (risk management), quality, service, cost and innovation including partnering with Finance to ensure visibility of planned spend and impact of value delivery to business budgets
- Leadership and Direction - Identify and communicate the actions needed to implement the function's strategy and business plan; link to the Bank’s, vision and values; motivate people to commit to these and to doing extraordinary things to achieve local business goals
- People Leadership – Lead, manage and develop a team of procurement professionals to facilitate delivery of Bank strategy including attract, develop and retain a strong talent base
- Contract Requirements - Identify contract requirements and write specifications for a large portfolio or area of the business for existing contracts and/or new contracts.
- Category Management - Manage a major category plan/program in line with the organizations’ purchasing/procurement and/or sales strategy ensuring realization of synergies, like cost savings and risk-reduction, and/or optimization of the category profit.
- Sourcing - Collect and analyse the key cost drivers, market dynamics and issues, areas of innovation, and alternative suppliers for business-critical risk area(s) with few alternatives / high costs of changing, in consultation with relevant functions to provide solid market information for decision making.
- Strategic Planning - Take responsibility for developing and delivering the strategic planning approach for a key part of the organization.
