About The Role
If you are intrinsically driven to make a difference in the Energy Transition, this is a pivotal role to set and implement direction for our National Grid Ventures businesses.
The purpose of the Head of Portfolio Management will be to manage the shape and characteristics of assets within the NGV portfolio and to enable the business units within NGV to make the optimal investment choices to drive sustainable value while aligning with National Grid Group’s strategic priorities.
Key Accountabilities
As part of this critical role your accountabilities will include:
- Supporting Financial and Strategic Business Planning (10-year outlook) supporting NG group asset and profit growth metrics while having acceptable credit metrics impact
- Developing NGVs portfolio strategy aligned to Group Strategy to shape future portfolio
- Advising NGV Exec on specific business development opportunities and key investment choices based on the allowed financial, ESG, reputational and commercial risk appetite
- Managing portfolio opportunities through internal gate processes and supporting Group approval processes providing a single view of the overall business development pipeline
- Developing and implementing value maximisation and creation plans partnering with all businesses’ Presidents
- Developing and implementing the portfolio management system for NGV; including a portfolio framework for analysing and monitoring performance, risks and uncertainties, latest strategic and capital structure developments
- The development and management of complex financial models and Digital Tools to support the design, implementation, and continuous reporting of NGV’s portfolio value and risk adjusted returns
About You
Critically you must have:
- The ability to be organisationally astute
- Outstanding written, technical and communication skills
- The ability to be a structured communicator
- Proven portfolio optimisation/value creation capabilities
- A strong analytical background – a clear strategic thinker who can distil the essence of complex issues through rigorous analysis
- A track record in financial modelling and valuation
- High energy levels, and an ability to take on a complex workload
- Drive and be self-motivated
