Stadler Rail Service UK Limited (SRS UK) is a subsidiary of Stadler Rail, Switzerland. Stadler is establishing a reputation as a competitive provider of train maintenance services and has seen a number of successes since emerging in the UK in 2016.

In the next few years over 200 new Stadler trains will be joining the UK rail network. Our current depot locations are Cardiff, Glasgow, Liverpool, Newcastle and Norwich offering a wide scope of opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in the UK Rail Industry.

We are looking to recruit a Head of Performance to join the perfomance team at our Merseyside Depot's, working with the class 50X project on the transitional period in line with the introduction of Class 777 fleet.

Reporting to the Fleet Manager the role will be responsible for leading and managing the performance team, ensuring the business meets contractual levels of performance including but not limited to; Safety, Reliability, Train Availability on a 24-7 basis.

HEAD OF PERFORMANCE

Your duties will include:

  • Managing performance staff to ensure effective and efficient service delivery
  • Achieving the targets set by the contract and Stadler management and industry standards
  • Where targets not fully achieved, reasons analysed and actions put in place to prevent generic reoccurrence
  • Focus the team to adhere to quality, standards and safety procedures
  • Support and develop the team by a combination of coaching, mentoring and performance management
  • Build and maintain good relationship with colleagues and the customer
  • Lead by example
  • Responsible for complying with and communicating the vision, implementing and maintaining the policy of SRSUK
  • Contract interface for on-site activities, technical, performance and warranty
  • Interface with customer technical manager and or deputies, contract managers and production managers.
  • Execution of performance, training and QA activities to contract
  • Deliver an efficient and effective service, focused on the customer
  • Identify and coach short term and long term replacements (Succession Planning) for key roles within the function
  • Understanding and experience with production technique and process
  • Provide on-call support

What do we require of you?

  • HNC or HND qualification in an Engineering discipline
  • Must be able to prove extensive knowledge of rolling stock maintenance
  • Has experience and knowledge of the operational railway
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing staff
  • Experience in leading teams and planning and engaging with stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a demanding environment and make decisions to tight deadlines
  • Can demonstrate a customer driven attitude focused on quality
  • Flexible approach, and willing to support colleagues
  • As part of the SRS UK management team, it is essential to have experience of managing at a senior level
  • Able to maintain standards in a changing environment, promoting and steering that change
  • Proven ability to understand complex production designs, reports, recommendations, investigations that may have impact to the safe and cost effective production operation and client operation
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, difficult and political discussions with key stakeholders, including with internal functional areas of the business, as well as external agencies
  • Demonstrated ability to inform, negotiate and persuade all levels of a business from MD to production Operatives and Technical persons.
  • Proven capability to establish, lead, coach and motivate a multi-skilled team to deliver production and technical best practice methodologies, with long term human resource plans developed
  • Financial and budget management skills if required.
  • Ability to understand and interpret legislation and standards relating to people & product health and safety, production, technical and general transport matter
