The role:


As Head of Operations - Terminal Security, you will drive, motivate and develop our team of 900 colleagues who welcome over 25 million passengers a year through the security hall at London Stansted Airport. You will focus on the safe, friendly, and efficient flow of customers through security whilst ensuring that security standards are consistently met, and customers always experience a professional and positive experience. You will design and implement plans that achieve the full optimization of security equipment, by assessing the current infrastructure and identify how new technologies should support the operation. People direction and engagement are really important in terms of helping your colleagues achieve their full potential. Finally, the Security Hall will undergo significant transformation with investment into new technology, which will revolutionize the customer and colleague experience. You will be pivotal to ensuring that the transformation program meets all the objectives, and that the future way of working are successfully embedded into the operation. Other accountabilities include:


  • Monitor, progress and manage operational risks that impact the security service or the program, ensuring key stakeholders are kept informed
  • Collaborate with Airport planning to ensure the operational plans align with KPI’s and the OPEX budget
  • Maintain working knowledge of available security technologies and innovations to enable development of future Security operating models
  • Work Closely with the People team to refine the Security recruitment and attraction strategy to ensure this meets the current and future operational needs

You will come from driving a large-scale operation, in a customer service or orientated commercial environment with a track record of colleague engagement high standards & performance. You will be flow & productivity focussed with an ever constant eye on continuous improvement using data & metrics. Relationship building will be key across a wide range of diverse stakeholders and external partners, as is delivering change & transformation programmes. You will guide by example in your peer group as well as across the wider group.
