An opportunity has arisen for an innovative and strategically minded individual to lead the Occupational Therapy Service for Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. The Head of Service is responsible for the strategic direction, clinical leadership and operational performance of the service and provides professional leadership to all occupational therapists across the Health Board.
Cardiff and Vale UHBhasan award-winning Rehabilitation Model led by AHPswhichdrives the ongoing development of our services. The post holder will provide expert clinical leadership to support the delivery of rehabilitation across the Health Board.Closely aligned with therapy colleagues throughthedirectorate structure, thisrole will be ensure the delivery of high quality, safe care and support the development of clinical pathways through expert knowledge, clinical leadership and education.
Therole requires a leader withexcellent communication and influencing skills, extensive experience ofsuccessfullyworking across a broad range of services with other professionals and service users.

The Head of Occupational Therapy is the professional and managerial head of adult occupational therapy services providing leadership to the adult Occupational Therapy team. In addition, they are the professional lead for all those occupational therapy staff line managed within other directorates across the University Health Board (UHB).
The post holder will have ultimate responsibility for financial, physical and human resources for adult occupational therapy and be accountable for the provision of an operationally effective UHB wide occupational therapy service that complies with all the requirements of clinical and corporate governance.
The post holder will lead the occupational therapy leadership team in setting the strategic direction for the service and work collaboratively with the Directorate Team, Clinical Boards and external agencies to identify needs and evaluate priorities. In conjunction with the occupational therapy leads they will implement the necessary changes in service delivery.
The post holder will be accountable to the Clinical Director of Allied Health Professions for the performance of the service and provide expert advice on professional practice both within the UHB and to external agencies to ensure that occupational therapy is appropriately represented in all strategic planning.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.
