JOB TITLE: Head of Media (UK and Ireland)
Location: CHANEL Head office, London
Reports to: Laura Tedder
Contract: Permanent, full time
Your role @CHANEL:
The Head of Media manages all paid media activities, including effective liaison with external agencies, internal departments and global teams, as well as day to day management of the media team.

- Help shape paid media communications across all activities, encourage best practice and challenge the status quo, to ensure approach is future proofed
- Manage, drive and challenge Media agency to deliver innovative and cost-efficient media solutions that protect and develop the brand equity and are delivered to agreed KPIs
- Responsible for provision of media plans that meet campaign objectives and maximise budget, to deliver qualitative and efficient campaigns; ensure accurate implementation of agreed media strategies
- Ensure all live campaigns are managed and optimised through analysis of relevant data, regular updates with agency and quality control of all media
- Drive forward measurement and effectiveness across each communication channel; facilitate constructive post campaign analysis, sharing and ensuring implementation of learnings; establish a robust feedback loop
- Write and deliver all media briefs (incl. annual, campaign, channel), assisted by Media Manager and Executives where appropriate
- Responsible for budget reporting and management, overall cost control and financial reporting
- Work with Ecommerce, Marketing and Commercial teams (cross Divisional) to drive business growth and facilitate and smooth digital path to experience/services (Digital Performance)
- Using deep understanding of business priorities and brand constraints, challenge media partners, in particular Social platforms and Search partners, to create tactics that drive growth and/or enable discovery of services
- Proactively seek out/create first to market opportunities that maximise business growth/discovery of services
- Develop test and learn programme; put together business cases to persuade global
- End to end launch management of key projects such as Salesforce Advertising Studio test, Affiliate test etc. and working with all internal and external key stakeholders
- Monitor all Performance tactics utilised by key competitors, updating internal teams with deep dive analysis
- Facilitate regular meetings/dialogue with media owners and further develop beneficial relationships, communicating business objectives and the importance of protecting brand image; creating opportunities for deeper engagement with target audience
- Manage and nurture Media team; conduct appraisals, promote goal setting and development plans; Help to ensure Media team retains high competency levels and champions best practice across all channels
- Primary point of contact for Global media team; Provide Global with analysis and up to date information on campaigns, key learnings etc.; Read and digest all information sent by Global, in a timely manner, alerting relevant stakeholders to key actions needed; Work with Media Director to continue to strengthen the relationship between the UK and the Global team
- Work closely with other departments (PR, Digital, Marketing) to help establish an effective communications community
- Manage agency team members and encourage commitment to the account and appreciation of the brand, including providing an in-depth induction for all new personnel
- Engage, manage and train all third-party local agencies i.e. auditors, production companies, creative agencies etc. ensuring value for money
- Keep abreast of industry issues and make connections with industry forums and key stakeholders
- Ensure Media Director is fully updated on all key developments, fostering a collaborative and transparent relationship
What you will bring to the role:
- Minimum of 8 years’ experience working in media agency or in-house, luxury experience highly desirable
- Extensive expertise in all elements of media briefing, planning and buying, from strategy to implementation in order to work with and challenge agencies
- Experience in managing large teams and excellent people management skills in order to lead the day to day running of the Media team but also to manage external agency relationships
- Strong organisational and operational skills are key to ensure that the intensive scope of work is delivered (internally and by external parties) and to help navigate the sometimes-conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Best in class digital knowledge and skills are a must (covering all aspects of paid social, search, digital display, data integration) with experience of driving E-commerce being key
- Superb mathematical and analytical acumen
- Strong communication skills
- Experience in managing budgets and project managing full year marketing strategies
- Exceptional capacity to work across teams and foster relationships within the organisation as well as with third party partners
- Ability to effectively manage timelines and coordinate internal and external teams to deliver results
- Entrepreneurial spirit and team player
- Extremely reliable, adheres to deadlines and is prepared to work at an extremely fast pace
