Head of Marketing
We are looking to recruit a Head of Marketing who will support our growing Contract Research Organisation by defining and delivering the company marketing strategy

Magnitude Biosciences is a specialist contract research organisation delivering C. elegans solutions to biotechnology, manufacturing and pharmaceutical industries. We are a team of experts who combine our C. elegans expertise, unique automated C. elegans assays and Healthspan technology and understanding of customer challenges to accelerate customised projects tailored to answer customers’ specific research questions and getting their products to market.
We are a small but fast-growing company who started off as a Durham University spin-out and are successfully working with industry customers including longevity biotechs, nutraceutical, food supplement and manufacturing companies.
Magnitude Biosciences is currently situated at NETPark, a science park in Sedgefield, 10 miles from both Durham City and Darlington. You will be based at our Sedgefield site full-time, with some flexibility for hybrid working.
About the Role
The post holder will report to our Chief Commercial Officer (interim reporting to CEO whilst CCO role is recruited), be based full time in NETPark and work closely with our CEO to:
· To define and deliver the company marketing strategy by embedding themselves into the on-site business, to facilitate achievement of the planned business growth
· Develop and deliver specialist marketing materials to increase lead generation and brand awareness. Executed as part of a monthly content calendar driven by in-lab discussions on new scientific research and learning by the laboratory team
· Develop uniform messaging and value-based propositions for target customers
· Set and manage the marketing KPIs. This will include analysis of the effectiveness of our marketing campaigns and their return on investment
· Create and manage our brand messaging and brand awareness both internally on-site and externally via PR at conferences, events and our digital channels, to increase lead generation
· Maintain and develop the company website and all social media engagement channels with added value content
Essential criteria
1. Experience working as a Head of Marketing or in a Senior Marketing role (within a CRO or B2B environment)
2. Experience developing growth-driving marketing strategies, based on customer, competitor and industry insights.
3. Significant B2B marketing experience (5 years+) and success in scaling up a start-up or similarly fast paced business unit, as a leader in performance marketing, retention and / or growth
4. Adept at managing all digital channels, social performance, email, SEO/SEM, PR, events and all forms marketing channels to drive awareness, demand and conversion.
5. A strong understanding of brand marketing with a track record of building a distinct brand and growing brand awareness
6. Proactive, driven, thrives on autonomy and getting ‘stuck into the job’.
7. Strong communicator
8. Good attention to detail
Desirable but not essential criteria
1. A team leader with experience in growing a team and developing team members
2. Knowledge of marketing design software packages
3. Knowledge of CROs
4. Knowledge of assay development and validation
5. Knowledge of drug discovery, pharma, nutraceuticals
The salary will be appropriate for the skills and experience of the successful candidate.
Hours: Full time 35 hours per week on site (open to hybrid working)
Salary: £40,000 – £50,000
