Job description
Are you an established Senior Events Manager looking for your next challenge? Are you passionate about working for an organisation that truly has an impact on the world we live in? Are you ready to be a part of an exciting and dynamic team dedicated to shaping the future of Cambridge University?
Cambridge University Development and Alumni Relations is the vibrant heart of alumni engagement and fundraising for the University. Our mission is to cultivate lifelong relationships between the University and its alumni and donors. We take pride in our responsibility to raise significant philanthropic gifts from both alumni and other supporters, ensuring the growth and development of our beloved institution.
As Head of Events, you will be at the forefront of our global events portfolio. These high-stakes events are vital in realising our strategic objectives, sometimes featuring prominent world leaders, members of the Royal Family, government officials, and distinguished dignitaries. You will work closely with the Vice-Chancellor and senior University leadership to deliver impactful in-person, hybrid, and digital events.
You will lead the planning, development, and flawless execution of an event portfolio of over 110 events annually while collaborating with key stakeholders to organise events ranging from large multimedia dinners to intimate high-net-worth cultivation gatherings. You will take charge of multi-site multi-day festivals, ceremonial events, building openings, sporting events, lectures, and receptions.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in successfully organising and managing a wide range of events, preferably in a complex or high-pressure environment. You will have exceptional leadership skills with the ability to inspire and guide a dedicated team, as well as strong communication and relationship-building abilities to engage with diverse stakeholders, including University leadership and external VIPs. If you have a strategic mindset and the capacity to align events with broader institutional goals while using a detail-oriented approach to event planning, we would love to hear from you.
