Change will play a critical role in enabling Hiscox to achieve its market leadership position and future strategic ambitions. With an ever-increasing pace and rapidly evolving customer needs, Hiscox needs to ensure that its change portfolio provides a source of competitive advantage and supports the business in achieving its market goals, whilst being delivered in an effective and efficient manner. As a result, a new Enterprise Portfolio Management capability will be established at the Group level, as part of the Group Operations and Change function.
The Group Enterprise Portfolio Management team will be responsible for improving the strategic alignment and value for money of Hiscox’s change investment portfolio. It will ensure that all change activity aligns behind strategic objectives; there is transparency and clarity around change portfolio prioritisation, delivery and outcomes; will drive greater focus on the outcome and value of change; will drive standardisation where it makes sense to drive greater consistency and scalability; and establish a superior change community to enable greater sharing of best practices. It will also help drive the transition of Hiscox to a greater product mindset, culture and outcome based organisation.
This role will report into the Group Operations and Change Director. Supported by a focused team, the role will work closely with Business Unit and Functions Change heads to ensure a transparent and aligned change agenda that drives significant value for the business. The role will be based in the UK.
Key Responsibilities
Change strategy and planning
- Develop the capability to provide a holistic, multi-year view of the overall change portfolio
- Ensure alignment to the long-term strategy and business priorities
- Manage the process to recommend allocation and prioritisation of change investment as part of planning
- Manage and evolve the process to support underling agile ways of working and the capability to reallocate or create bandwidth in anticipation of / response to changing priorities
- Ensure clear outcomes and key results are committed and communicated during change planning
Change oversight and tracking
- Manage a holistic view of the overall change portfolio and its health
- Establish the required governance forums to provide effective portfolio oversight
- Track progress against benefits as committed during change planning to ensure value is delivered
- Engage and consult with BU/Function change heads to proactively identify corrective actions as required
- Work with teams to identify and proactively manage Group-wide risks, key dependencies, issues etc
- Work with BU and Function Change teams, plus Risk teams, to ensure Quality Assurance in place
Change delivery and effectiveness
- Define and develop the minimum standards for change delivery across Hiscox that achieves an optimal balance of global consistency alongside regional autonomy
- Set global policies and procedures for change delivery across Hiscox
- Identify and drive opportunities to improve ways of working (training, tooling, frameworks, playbooks etc)
- Implement, maintain and optimise portfolio management tooling to support global change capability
- Develop mechanisms to promote greater sharing of best practices, economies of scale
Change leader
- Communicate change vision and strategy in a compelling and inspiring manner, and role model the values
- Work closely with Business Unit and Function change heads to develop effective relationships
- Build a talented Group EPM team with the right expertise and mindset to deliver
- Develop and manage team so high performing, collaborative and operate as trusted partners to business
- Develop and maintain a global community of change practitioners to maximise delivery, collaboration / sharing of knowledge and assets, and economies of scale
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will bring strategic thinking, analytical skill, execution capability, leadership, passion and collaboration to drive positive change within the change community and the broader organisation. They will likely come from a change delivery or portfolio management office background with a deep understanding of end-to-end change management. They will have experience with agile ways of working and ideally have experience with product management/mindset in similar or larger companies. Some examples include:
- Experience developing, transitioning & driving a product mindset, culture and outcome based organisation
- Experience with implementing long-live value streams, and developing and implementing OKRs
- Experience in implementing new ways of working across, and at all levels, of the organisation
Experience in creating an advisory function and community of practice for Product Managers
Experience of operating in an international matrix environment and a grasp of financial services is required. A successful track record in delivering change and transformation programmes would be a clear advantage. They will be a pragmatic strategist who looks for the right business and commercial solutions, use data to inform decisions, will be eager to bring a clear ‘outside in’ view and keep abreast of developments externally to challenge the Group and Business Unit teams.
