About Us

The Education Quality and Policy Office (EQPO) is responsible for the Quality Assurance of all higher education provision, and education policies and provides a range of support for Departments, Faculties and Colleges and Schools.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced and passionate individual to lead the team as Head of EQPO. You will support the Education Committee and its sub-committees through undertaking projects and research for the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Education and the Head of Education Services. You will be responsible for quality assurance procedures for educational programmes and managing the EQPO team to deliver across the full range of the team's areas of responsibility. In this role you will:

  • advise on how to meet the requirements of external regulators, such as the Office for Students, when developing policy and strategy
  • manage and supervise the team of quality and policy professionals
  • promote collaboration within the University and the inter-collegiate administration
  • consult with the Faculty Boards, Degree Committees and Councils of the Schools
  • be responsible for advising on compliance with the Office for Students
  • manage institution-level quality assurance reviews
  • work closely with the Head of Postgraduate Research Office in relation to policy for Postgraduate research programmes
  • be responsible for quality assurance procedures for teaching of educational programmes, including approving new courses and processes for periodic reviews
  • develop management information and its use in monitoring teaching
  • hone relationships with the Office for Students, the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education and the Russell Group
  • act as data protection officer and freedom of information officer for EQPO and its activities
  • serve Steering Committees and Working Groups

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • proven experience managing a team
  • extensive experience of administration and management, ideally in a HE context
  • demonstrable experience of committee serving and drafting policy papers
  • knowledge and understanding of the HR national agenda
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • the ability to analyse and present data and management information for policy development
  • the skills to negotiate, persuade and compromise with a flexible approach to problem solving
  • qualifications to at least first-degree level or significant relevant work experience
