About the Opportunity
The Head of Data will report directly to the PMO & Digital lead for Sizewell C (SZC) and is one of the critical strategic leadership roles within the Project Delivery Organisation. Their remit is to lead the definition of the Reporting/ Analytics and Data Strategy for the whole SZC Programme and to build that into a working Analytics ecosystem for all the Sizewell C Reporting needs. The role will have direct responsibility for the BI and Analytics team within the Project Delivery Organisation.
Ultimately responsible for developing and implementing a complete reporting & data governance framework in partnership with the PMO lead and CIO team across the Project Delivery Organisation.
The candidate must have a proven and successful experience/ track record of leading high-performing data teams through the successful performance of advanced quantitative analyses and statistical modelling that positively impact a Project or Business performance.
- Direct responsibility of the BI & Analytics function within Sizewell C whereby they will provide technical and operational supervision. Working closely with Hinkley Point C (HPC) to manage intelligent replication of data structures and reporting.
- Chair of the analytics council – (The forum for managing collaboration on Analytics and Analytics governance on Sizewell C).
- Develop and maintain the full catalogue of reporting KPI’s for SZC in collaboration with all the SZC leadership and functions.
- Responsible for structuring and designing the foundational data models across the Organisation that will facilitate the use of Advanced Analytics methods in future.
- Have a thorough understanding of Project & Business operating models and system architecture.
- Effectively communicate the status, value, and importance of data collection to executive members and staff.
- Knowledge of relevant applications, big data solutions, and tools and stay abreast of new technology that could benefit the SZC Project/ Organisation.
- Coordination and facilitation of the Analytics council as well as the Terms of Reference.
- Liaising with Heads of functions to identify new and emerging data needs (through the council).
- Championing a scientific approach and strive for excellence in results, balanced with working in an ‘Agile’ way to achieve rapid turnaround’
- Ensuring there are robust standards, policies and processes including data naming conventions as required for data analysis tasks
- Developing processes and tools to monitor and analyse model performance and data accuracy
- The Head of Data & Reporting should have a degree in Mathematics/ Machine Learning/ Computer Science/ Economics, or any other related quantitative field or suitable working experience of 15+ years is also acceptable for the position.
- Extensive skill and experience in presenting complex information to senior executives and shareholders
- Demonstrable data management, analysis, and visualisation experience on Major Projects/ Programmes.
- Line management experience.
- Mentoring &/or Coaching experience.
- Demonstrable use of numerical and verbal communication skills with a business environment.
- Understanding of Microsoft Azure, Power BI and/or other analytics tools.
- Data modelling - how to architect data models in both relational and nonrelational contexts;
- Data analysis: Deep knowledge of a data analysis tools/ methods
