We have a newly created role for a Head of Credit – Debt Recovery, supporting the Credit Operations Director based out of our Crewe office. The Department is responsible for end-to-end credit risk management across all our trading divisions in c15 countries worldwide, with c£750m of credit lines supporting our business customers.
You will be a key member of the Credit Leadership Team, and be expected to lead by example, working collaboratively with CLT peers to deliver against Credit and Group strategic goals. This role will suit a person with a strong background in debt recovery, capable of rolling-up their sleeves, driving change and building new capability within a diverse global Group.

Your responsibilities day to day will be…
- Responsible for managing risk within the Group credit policy and the delivery of the debt recovery budget through overseeing the management of the Debt Recovery teams in the UK and Europe, having ultimate ownership of the Debt Recovery ledgers in each country.
- Identify risks and issues impacting bad debt from daily activities. Suggest and implement policy, process or procedural changes to mitigate risk, drive improvement and ultimately result in stronger financial results.
- Where necessary chasing via legal means, liaising with outsourced collection agents and solicitors, as well as dealing with insurance claims.
- Direct line management of a UK based Credit Manager and a team of approximately 6 people covering UK & Ireland Debt Recovery plus indirect line management of staff in each of our 7 mainland Europe territories.
- Proactively engage relevant stakeholders both inside and outside the Credit Department to build relationships and share knowledge.
- Build strong and effective working relationships with Regional Directors in each country, proactively managing expectations and delivering against deadlines.
What do we expect of you?
Working knowledge of UK & Ireland Debt Recovery processes and actions in a B2B environment is essential, knowledge of different Debt Recovery processes in Western European countries would be useful- Demonstrable experience of leading and delivering successful change and operational process improvement in an organisation is essential
- Experienced people manager and coach with strong and dynamic leadership to drive high performance
- Working knowledge of working with credit insurance, a restructuring or legal background would be beneficial but not essential
- Ability to continually challenge the status quo, drive continuous improvement and manage change is highly valuable, along with a mindset that is flexible, innovative, entrepreneurial and commercial
