The Stonebridge business was established in 2017. There are two companies within the group: Stonebridge Contracting, an outsourced service provider specialising in logistical and project management services to the construction and rail sectors, and Stonebridge Payment Solutions, our umbrella company.
Stonebridge are looking for an experienced Compliance professional to lead the Compliance team and hit the ground running. With management responsibility for all compliance and legal requirements within the business, working closely with senior stakeholders and compliance team members, the sky is the limit for this role and your future career. This role provides a great opportunity to firmly put your stamp on processes and procedures, having sole responsibility for the work that the team produce.
The role is based at our office in Chalfont St. Peter for 2-3 days of the week with hybrid option for the remainder.
Job Description:
- Put in place and maintain structures and processes to ensure that the business and its subsidiaries are well advised on and work within legislation, regulatory, governance and contractual requirements
- Ensure business activities are conducted in conformity with all applicable laws, regulations, internal policies and procedures
- Responsible for IR35 policies and procedures for the business (including completing determinations and management of dispute process)
- Line management of direct reports
- Responsible for VAT requests and responses inc. zero rating and reverse charge
- Review contracts and create appendixes, ensuring a consistent approach.
- Check existing contracts and ensure terms and clauses are back to back with Clients
- To work closely with the CEO, MD and other senior management to advise the business as required on all legal matters
- Lead on the procurement of external tax and legal advice/support, taking responsibility for its quality
- Identify and mitigate data protection risks, ensuring business compliance with GDPR
- Responsibility for accreditations for the business (ISO 9001, FCSA, CCS, accreditation)
Ideal Experience:
- Construction experience, specifically CIS and how to answer queries surrounding CIS, the roles that fall within the scope and the deductions
- IR35 experience
- UK recruitment law experience
- A commercial approach to business. The ability to be commercially astute whilst remaining compliant
