Head of Commercial – Shell Egg
Salary: Competitive
Location: Lacock, Wiltshire
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 40 hours
Stonegate Farmers Ltd currently have an exciting opening for a Head of Commercial within our office based out of Lacock, Wiltshire.
As Head of Commercial, you would report directly into the CEO whilst being responsible for the delivery of a set strategy agreed against KPI targets that are both internal and customer focused.

Established in 1926 and under new ownership since 2016, we have grown into one the largest free-range and organic egg producers within the UK. The business has been transformed through new investment and has advanced its competitive position within the sector with significant expansion in its core market and recently entered the chilled products market with new processing technologies.
A key distributor for leading premium egg brand Clarence Court, Stonegate Farmers boasts a customer base comprising of major mainstream food retailers, food service outlets and distributors.
The business is looking to continue to build on existing strong retailer relationships, enhance its strong branded reputation with further innovative egg branding, optimise on egg packing performance and extend customer and product development across both it’s Shell Egg and Egg Innovation divisions.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Deliver against strategy, building customer and internal relationships to achieve common goals.
- Accountable for all commercial aspects of engagement with multiple customers (reviewing existing and negotiating new contracts, customer visits, governance, etc)
- Accountable for ensuring commercial negotiations are aligned to Stonegate’s strategic objectives.
- Actively pursue and develop customers that fit into the company’s strategic portfolio.
- Balance the customers requirements with those of the business, ensuring a mutually beneficial relationship that maximises potential.
- Management and development of direct reports and other staff members, including the Sales Team and Commercial Graduates
- Ensuring the Commercial Department works cohesively with other functions of the business (Operations, Technical, HR etc) to ensure the company is maximising output in line with ESG, Ethical and Customer Code of Practice obligations.

- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to build strong relationships and influence internal and external stakeholders in order achieve common goals.
- High commercial acumen and numerical ability
- Excellent organisation
Qualifications / Experience:
- Degree level education or equivalent experience
- Extensive and dedicated commercial experience within own label and branded food manufacturing.
- Experience of working with major supermarkets and retailers
- Experience of successfully managing customer visits and audits
- In-depth knowledge of negotiation strategies and risk/ value analysis
- Ability to understand and implement policies and process, both internally and externally
