Your role in our mission

We are looking for an exceptional and seasoned Head of Collections. Reporting to the Chief Credit, Data & Analytics Officer, you will lead the company's Collections team, including strategy and operations/ execution.

The essentials

  • You have significant experience in Collections within a Financial Services or FinTech company offering products to consumers (preferably unsecured lending).
  • You have broader leadership experience outside of just your specialism and a track record of building and retaining a high performing team.
  • You have led multiple debt sales from the client's side, both spot and forward flow
  • You have experience managing outsourced Collections agent teams and holding them to a high standard
  • You have a strong understanding of the regulatory environment, especially around vulnerable customer treatment and Consumer Duty
  • You are commercially minded with experience analysing data and setting Collections strategies that continuously improve
  • You have experience preparing materials for or running committees with senior directors
  • You have strong written skills and are a great verbal communicator with proven ability and experience of building strong internal and external networks
  • You are passionate about businesses that deliver social impact with a strong desire to help grow a business that delivers a meaningful difference to society
  • Prefer a degree educated in a STEM or a quantitative subject, but not essential.

What you'll do

  • Own the Operational design and execution of Collections and drive the internal and outsourced team's development to a high performance level
  • Lead the company's Collections strategy with a continuous improvement approach
  • Ensure that the business has appropriate Collections MI and reporting to track performance and drive improvements
  • Lead the strategy and process for regular debt sales and the optimal timing for their execution to maximise returns for the business and maintain good customer outcomes
  • Drive the enhancement of our Collections activity monitoring capabilities to ensure our Collections strategy is executed as planned and performs within expectations and in line with our relevant policies
  • Ensure that the Collections Operations team is sufficiently staffed and trained appropriately to deliver positive customer outcomes
  • Drive the Collections strategy roadmap and ensure that the team is adequately skilled and resourced to deliver the planned work in a timely manner and with a high quality output
  • Ensure that strong analytics, insights and reporting are regularly produced to keep partners and debt funders informed and up-to-date with Collections performance and any planned changes that might impact that performance
  • Manage the relationships with debt purchasers, Collections outsourcers and DCAs
  • Work closely with the Head of Credit Risk to drive credit performance in line with targets
  • Drive controlled automation of existing processes and the creation of new more efficient processes to allow sustainable scaling of the team
