This new and exciting role, reporting to the Divisional Registrar and Chief Operating Officer, will lead on the development and delivery of the operational strategy for the new Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities, currently under construction. Due to complete in 2025, the Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities is an exciting new initiative to create a creative innovation hub in a new multi-purpose building combining academic faculties, research and teaching spaces, as well as a range of performance and exhibition spaces including a 500-seat concert hall and 250-seat theatre.
As part of the building project, leading up to the Centre’s completion, the successful candidate will play a key role in developing the Centre’s operating model including resourcing, policies and processes. You will work closely with the University’s Facilities Management team and Estates Services regarding day-to-day facilities support, and longer-term maintenance and repairs, manage staff supporting the building’s operations and be responsible for meeting financial targets through developing a portfolio of income-generating activities that are in keeping with the Centre’s ethos.
The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and the collaborative mindset to operate across a complex multi-stakeholder environment. You will have demonstrable experience of managing the needs and demands of different types of space and users. Building and sustaining effective relationships across complex user groups, both internally and externally, including with academic, cultural and commercial entities will be at the heart of your approach. This is an exciting opportunity for a building operations professional to develop and grow the operations function within this transformative new Centre.

The post will be based in the Radcliffe Humanities, Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, Oxford until opening of new Centre in 2025.
