The role

Bristol Trials Centre (BTC) is a UKCRC-registered clinical trials unit (CTU) based in the University of Bristol. As the post holder you will lead the development and implementation of the BTC business plan and strategy in conjunction with the BTC Senior Management team, ensures processes are put in place for continuous quality improvement and works with the Head of BTC Operations to facilitate the smooth running of the BTC, supporting in their absence.

What will you be doing?

  • Lead on shaping the strategic direction of cross cutting BTC infrastructure to enable delivery of operations
  • Work within the BTC Senior Management team to shape and implement the BTC’s overall strategy to facilitate the smooth running of the BTC
  • Develop and engage with a network of internal and external stakeholders, engaging at a senior level to represent and promote BTC’s work
  • Manage activities which require significant forward planning and lead an agenda of business process improvement
  • Directly line manage a group of staff including developing and improving the capability of staff within their work area
  • Ensure that the BTC implements and monitors policies and strategies to meet statutory and regulatory requirements

You should apply if

  • Substantial experience in a senior management position gained within a large, complex organization
  • Knowledge of the work practices, processes, and procedures relevant to the role
  • Efficient organisation and project/programme management skills
  • The ability to plan and prioritise to a high and constantly changing workload
  • Expert knowledge of clinical trials regulations and quality assurance processes
  • Able to engage and inform a wide variety of audiences
  • Advanced negotiating skills, with proven ability to influence internal and external organisations
  • Experience of operational strategic planning

Contract type: Open-ended with funding until 31/03/2024

Salary: £54,949 - £61,823 per annum

Shift pattern: 35h per week
