Why this job matters.
Data driven automation and decision making has never been more important. It will allow us to create the best personal experiences for all our customers across our outbound, inbound assisted and digital channels. This chapter will create a new data capability for Consumer, overseeing the data architecture, tooling and frameworks our engineers and data scientists work with to build and deploy capability, the way we source our data and join it together and it will oversee the quality and availability of that data too.
This Chapter will also lead in the design, build and continual optimisation of the data products and solutions we create, to deliver personalisation at scale. We’re creating the best personal experiences for our customers to help them stay connected, and that mission is all underpinned by high quality, low latency data.
In this job, you’ll be accountable for delivery of base analysis across the Plusnet area of Consumer, using data from a wide range of sources. Your output supports decision making for our key stakeholders through quality and actionable analytics to deliver a holistic customer view.
What you'll be doing:
- Use methodical Data science techniques to select and tune algorithms and quantify performance in a business relevant way
- Tell engaging stories using non-technical language and exciting visualisations to influence change
- Execute experiments to quantify the performance of algorithms in both digital and physical domains and test business hypotheses
- Work with multiple stakeholders to understand the business problem and translate into deliverables.
- Mine and analyse big data sets, leveraging data science skills and techniques to deliver business benefit.
- Work across a range of projects leveraging advanced techniques that include, but aren’t limited to predictive analytics from CRM, customer propensity modelling, audience segmentation, journey analytics, attribution, marketing and customer base campaign analytics.
- Put to use exploratory analysis methodologies to identify patterns and trends to use with the right statistical methods (clustering, PCA, regression, significance testing). You’ll also be happy in the world of machine learning, data mining and algorithm development to seek out new insight
- Work with descriptive and predictive analytics (e.g. linear regression & propensity models, customer segmentation, data mining and trigger identification) of the mobile and converged customer base.
- Support the business in optimising the use of predictive analytics and targeting across inbound and outbound contact strategies and all customer segments and brands.
- Input into the data science strategy
Skills and experience you'll need:
- Relevant Degree and/ or equivalent experience
- Highly numerate with strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret data and extrapolate trends
- Experience of data extraction, manipulation and analytics software, specifically SQL
- Experience working with data visualisation tools
- Ability to work under pressure and seek priority calls when needed
- Able to present technical information and actions to be taken as a result of analytics
- Effective communicator with a strong problem-solving capability and “can-do” attitude
- Data visualisation & dashboard creation
- Qualitative/quantitative analysis
- Strong work ethic with particular emphasis on accuracy, attention to detail and timeliness
- Collaborative attitude and an ability to share expertise with colleagues across the business
