Do you have the confidence, energy and charisma to lead our kitchen team?

We’re looking for a motivated and talented chef to take overall responsibility for our kitchen operation and manage the team. Able to work well under pressure, you’ll be confident cooking food in a busy environment: you might be an experienced Head Chef, or a strong Sous Chef looking for the next step in your career. A passion for food preparation, presentation and menus is essential.

Hardworking, diligent and flexible, you’ll take pride in all aspects of the role, especially food preparation. You’ll create new dishes and menus, and will monitor portions and waste control to maintain profit margins. A good communicator, you’ll train and develop the kitchen staff to provide outstanding quality and service.

The role’s responsibilities include admin tasks such as stock control, working within budgets, staff manning, and dealing with suppliers. You’ll also be expected to maintain the highest standards of hygiene and health and safety, and to ensure that all our policies and procedures are followed.

Do you love your work and always know exactly what your clients need?

Then we want to work with you!

Our team thrive on delighting guests, and that's important because we welcome the return of many loyal Loch Fyne fans every year. Just now there are some big changes happening at the hotel, so we need more hospitality enthusiasts to join us on the next step of our exciting journey.

But we're also after someone who does their homework before telling their mum they're away to move to Inveraray. It's a lifestyle choice, to live in the heart of Argyll, on the west coast of Scotland.

Inveraray is just a wee town on the edge of Loch Fyne, with lots of quaint old white washed buildings. In the summer, tourists pack out the castle and infamous Inveraray Jail. Things get pretty quiet in the winter.

If you love seafood, you'll love the fresh local oysters from Loch Fyne. It's Scotland's longest sea loch - which is gorgeous, but can also feel remote. Inveraray is 90 minutes from Glasgow and you have to make the scenic drive all the way around the top of the loch to get there. The nearest train station is Oban, an hour by car, or buses go to Glasgow every two hours.

Three reasons to choose a career with Crerar Hotels

  • Destination locations

Scotland provides a sought-after quality of life, ideal for outdoorsy types. Urbanites may find there are limitations, with reduced public transport, small local shops and occasionally - the ultimate modern hardship - patchy phone signal. But those who take that in their stride find that they discover true peace and quiet, wake up to incredible scenery and have Scotland's natural larder to feast on daily.

  • Talent development

We always aim to progress staff internally where possible, which means a number of our team have been with us long-term. They've chosen to make a life in one (or more!) of our locations, building themselves a varied career in the Scottish hospitality industry.

  • Shaped by our values

We share the spirit of Scotland through our values. We take pride in providing a truly authentic experience; we're warm in personality, curious to get to know our guests and confident in sharing our knowledge. We take what we do seriously, but our humour means we also see the lighter side. Above all, we're comfortable saying, "we are who we are!"
