Job Introduction

Our Teacher Training, Learning & Development team are seeking to appoint a Higher Education Lecturer.

The Teacher Training, Learning & Development team, having recently received accreditation for QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) along with being graded ‘Good’ by Ofsted We are looking to add to our curriculum team as part of our long-term strategy for growth.

Applications are welcome from candidates who can demonstrate the knowledge, experience and expertise required for this key role.

Main Responsibilities
  • Deliver lectures, seminars and tutorials

  • Design, prepare and develop courses, modules and teaching materials

  • Develop and implement new methods of teaching to reflect changes in research

  • Assess students' coursework

  • Set, mark and moderate examinations and assessments

  • Supervise students' research activities, including final year undergraduate projects.

  • Support students through a pastoral or advisory role

  • Undertake individual and collaborative research projects that are published in peer-reviewed journals and actively contribute to your institution's research profile

  • Write up research and prepare it for publication

  • Carry out administrative tasks related to the department, such as student admissions, induction programmes and involvement in committees and boards

  • Contribute to professional conferences and seminars in your field of expertise

  • Establish collaborative links with other institutions, as well as with industrial, commercial and public organisations

  • Participate in staff training activities.

The Ideal Candidate
  • You will have experience as a classroom practitioner in either the Primary or Secondary sector.

  • You will have good knowledge of the schools provision within the local Leeds area.

  • You will have some experience working alongside mentors in a school setting.

  • You will have a good knowledge of the requirements to train on a QTS course, the compliance criteria and an excellent knowledge and understanding of the Teachers’ Standards.
