JOB OVERVIEW
True Music Ltd are seeking a new Peripatetic Music Teacher (Guitar Specialist) with experience in a similar role. We are looking for an enthusiastic, passionate musician to join our dedicated team. Someone with performance experience would be preferable, as we believe the best teachers are experienced musicians also.
It is crucial that the applicant can maintain good relationships with students and staff, and will consistently meet our high teaching standards, becoming another asset to our committed team supporting several schools in the Coventry/Warwickshire area. Schools are Primary and Secondary, teaching students aged 6-18 either individually or in small groups.
This new Peripatetic Teacher (Guitar Specialist) can work with either standard notation or tablature to suit their preference but should be versed in both. A candidate who can play both acoustic and electric guitar is required, and if they are also learned in classical guitar that is desirable but not essential.
HOURS : Flexible hours, but must commit to delivering 10 lessons per term, (one per week). Starting hours 2-5 hours per week, with room for growth according to availability.
SALARY: £29-£32ph
LOCATION: Coventry/Warwickshire Schools, to be specified at interview
JOB TYPE: Permanent, Part Time.
DUTIES
Your duties as the Peripatetic Music Teacher (Guitar Specialist) will include the following.
· Teach 20/30 minute lessons to pupils of varying ability, ages between 8-18. Lessons will be either individual or small groups.
· Teach a minimum of 10 weeks per term, (30 lesson minimum over the year)
· Produce a weekly timetable for allocated pupils
· Plan, prepare and deliver appropriate lessons required for individuals
· Maintain an accurate register of pupils attendance and progress each term
· Make up lessons where you are absent from school
· Remain contactable during term time
· Support the school and their Music Department, encouraging pupils to get involved in relevant musical activities
· Arrange and prepare students for examinations where appropriate/required
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
· Excellent interpersonal and communications skills (verbal and written)
· Excellent organisational skills and time management
· Acceptance of relevant, regular training including keeping up to date on guidance working with and protecting children and young people
· Confidence and assertiveness
· Ability to work under pressure and multi-task
· Ability to work as a team and also independently
· Take pride in your work, maintaining high standards for yourself and your students
DESIRABLE ATTRIBUTES
· Grade 5 Theory
· Grade 8 in specified instrument (Guitar)
· Experience teaching in specified instrument (Guitar)
· Full UK driving licence
· Higher Education Qualification in Music (e.g Diploma, Degree)
· Performance experience
