About The Role

You will have a background in Linux Systems Engineering and familiarity (and comfort) in working both across public and private cloud environments.
Your role will involve the design, engineering and operation of core Linux platforms underpinning our global organisation, this will involve working closely with various internal stakeholders including software development, networking and security.
Above all, we are seeking a candidate who has both experience in, and a passion for, automation of the work in this area.
As part of the operational aspect of this role, you may be required to act as a point of escalation to other teams, and perform work out of hours, either through planned change, or part of an on-call rota for this area. You will of course be separately compensated for this.
Essential duties & responsibilities:
  • Design, Engineer and Operate the core Linux platforms underpinning our Global Organisation.
  • Work with various internal stakeholders to both identify and overcome technical challenges in working and integrating with our platforms.
  • Work with the same stakeholders to understand, appraise and model new features available to these platforms that we may plan to use.
  • Work with our security areas to identify and mitigate threat and improve our general internal security processes and posture.
  • Automate tasks relating to these platforms with respect to the above.

About You

Position specifications
Essential:

• 5+ years relevant Linux experience (both public and private cloud) showing career progression and increasing responsibility in line with a constantly expanding skill set.
  • Virtualisation and / or containerisation experience including high availability, performance, networking, monitoring and security.
  • Good working knowledge of Python 3
• Experience in working with software revision control systems (preferably Git).
  • Familiarity with, or experience in systems driving continuous integration and continuous deployment.
• Ability to use independent judgement, when necessary and be assertive within parameters of the role
• Good analytical and numeracy skills.
