About The Role

You will be a key member in a team of six responsible for the innovation and research & development of our global products, with a strong focus on both Web and Cloud technologies.

You will contribute significantly to the development of our Global DNS, Web Acceleration and Protection technology platforms.

Your team will collaborate closely with various teams around the world and there will be opportunity to travel and work across the whole Claranet Group of countries.

As part of the operational aspect of this role, you may be required to act as a point of escalation to other teams, and perform work out of hours, either through planned change, or part of an on-call rota for this area. You will of course be separately compensated for this.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Translate product vision and requirements into software design.
  • Write clean, documented and maintainable code following best practices (unit testing, source control, continuous integration, automation, etc.).
  • Design, test and document systems designed and built by us sometimes in consultation with users, in accordance with agreed specifications.
  • Collaborate with other developers, testers, and system engineers to ensure quality product enhancements.
  • Add new features and integrations to our tools and interact our Global technical community.
  • Contribute ideas for iterative improvements to code, best practice and technical culture.
  • Propose new and innovative solutions to improve customer satisfaction and performance, decreasing systems complexity.
  • Participate in the product design process, assessing feasibility and building proof of concept solutions.
  • Analyse complex infrastructure, processes and procedures.
  • Document, mentor and train operational teams to reduce escalations.
  • Modify existing systems in accordance with agreed specifications.
  • Respond to escalations from operational teams for technical issues in a timely fashion

About You

Ideally, you have had a background in systems administration / DevOps and be comfortable with working in an agile environment, but development will your main area of focus. You should have a passion for what technology can do and how others can benefit from it.

Position specification

Essential:
  • Degree in Computer Science or Information Systems and / or relevant experience in our industry.
  • Proven 3+ years experience in software development.
  • Proficient in a variety of programming languages including, but not limited to, Python and JavaScript.
  • Good knowledge of front-end development frameworks such as React, Angular, or Vue.js (preferably Vue).
  • Experience with Python back-end frameworks such as Django or Flask.
  • Familiarity with public cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
  • Experience implementing High Availability (HA) and distributed systems/platform/design.
  • Good level of understanding of Docker, GIT, CI/CD, SQL, DNS, HTTP.
  • Good understanding of the Network stack and the challenges of DoS attacks.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to produce reliable, user driven, well-tested, high-quality code.
Desirable:
  • Experience with Varnish, TSDBs, ElasticSearch or CDNs would be a plus.
