Group Insurance Manager

Purpose of the Role

To ensure that the AirTanker Group Insurance programme is appropriately managed and remains sufficiently broad and flexible to respond to the changing activities and risk exposures of the whole of the Group, whilst remaining competitively priced.

Job Responsibilities

Business support

• To deliver and manage the end-to-end activities associated with AirTanker Group’s Insurance portfolio, facilitating the business whilst ensuring ATr’s legal and contract obligations are met and risk managed in accordance with internal policy and procedure, including but not limited to:

• Advise the business on all insurance matters, from day-to-day queries to supporting new business win activities.
• Provide insurance solutions to support the business growth agenda
• Develop enhanced awareness of Insurance requirements in the broader business, supporting continuous improvement and enhancing business processes
• Co-ordinate risk management measures between the business and insurers/brokers
• Support the wider Risk Management activities of the business as appropriate developing a collectively robust view on risk exposures, mitigations and subsequent cost of premium for insured risks
• Ensure productive use of the Aviation Insurance bursary within AirTanker to mitigate risks.
  

  Claims

• To develop and establish effective end to end claims management service, in collaboration with insurers, loss adjusters, solicitors and key stakeholders within the business to ensure timely and efficient closure in line with the legal and contractual obligations, including but not limited to:

• Establish systems and processes whereby losses are reported to insurers in a timely and efficient manner
• Manage all claims, leading the internal process of claim preparation, liaising with insurers and solicitors as appropriate in order to achieve timely resolution of claims.
• Lead periodic claim reviews with insurers
• Advising the business on impact of loss on the insurance portfolio
• Periodic reporting to the Head of Corporate Compliance and ERM on the status, progress and impact of claims
• Work proactively with managers and teams across the business to maintain continuous improvement in claim process
• Identify any claims trends and work with all stakeholders to seek to reduce repeat occurrences and maintain insurability
  

  External relationships

• To ensure positive and collaborative relationships are developed and maintained with key stakeholders to support the delivery of service excellence in relation to all Insurance matters

• Develop and sustain key partnering relationships with external stakeholders engaged in our group insurance package to extract best value and engagement
• Support liaison with customers, in particularly the MoD around contractual requirements/changes
• Manage Insurance reporting requirements of customer contracts (in particular FSTA)
• Ensure a robust and productive relationship with Insurance brokers, constantly challenging insurer and broker performance to ensure the best service

  Renewal

• Lead renewal activities on behalf of the AirTanker Group across the Insurance portfolio ensuring competitive terms and pricing are maintained.

• Ensure effective completion of the insurance renewals each year for the Group
• Collate the necessary underwriting information, proposals, and Group data to present to insurers each year
• Ensure that documentation issued by insurers and brokers is appropriate and correct
• Advise the business on market factors influencing the renewals position and their likely impact on premiums, FSTA Contract terms and available options to mitigate where feasible
• Distribution of the insurance certificates and appropriate renewals information throughout the business as required
• Manage the payment of premiums and fees within agreed timescales

The Individual

• Experienced in the commercial/corporate insurance/reinsurance market either in the underwriting or broker environment or experience as an insurance or risk manager in industry
• Relevant insurance industry professional qualification from the Chartered Insurance Institute
• Knowledge of the workings and structure of insurance programmes
• In depth broad knowledge of the workings of the commercial insurance market
• Robust Knowledge of corporate obligations in relation to legal and contractual liabilities
• Proven evidence of interpersonal, communication and leadership skills to support the fostering of positive working relationships and collaboration
• Experience in working with stakeholders at all levels and building trust through delivery
• Proven ability to deliver effective briefings and reports to all levels of the organisation
• Proven ability of developing and establishing policies and procedures
• Proven ability to act strategically to deliver results to the benefit of the Group
• Desirable – Knowledge of Crisis/Incident Management and Business Continuity
