Job description

Make yourself at home

It takes a whole lot of passion to be at the centre of what makes a house feel like home — and that’s just what we do at DFS. We’re the leading sofa retail specialist in the UK, helping people find a comfy seat on their great quality sofas since 1969.

We're a market leader in the UK because of one thing: our people. Our people made us who we are and will drive us into our ambitious future, together. We offer incredible opportunities to get stuck into fun and meaningful work as well as learn new skills — so you can really ‘find your thing’.

Are you ready to make yourself at DFS?

A bit about the role

You will work within our Finance department, reporting to the Group Financial Accountant and primarily supporting the Group Property Accountant.

Managing a portfolio of leasehold and freehold properties. Your responsibilities will extend to DFS, Sofology, Dwell and The Sofa Delivery Company properties.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Be the first point of contact for all 3rd party estates queries and see through to a completed outcome
  • Liaise with Store and CDC managers, Landlords and their managing agents, other internal/external stakeholders and external 3rd party suppliers via telephone, email, Google Meet and text on estates matters
  • Be responsible for checking and processing lease and business rates invoices prior to authorising Finance colleagues to make payment in a timely manner. You will thoroughly investigate any discrepancies, and refer to the Group Property Accountant when resolution cannot be made
  • Work with the FM teams, stores/CDC Managers and external partners regarding maintenance issues and report to our Landlords where appropriate and coordinate through to completed repair
  • Responsible for maintaining the property database and schedules and keeping records accurate and up-to-date as well as providing relevant information to Finance for IFRS16 reporting
  • Assist in the budgeting process
  • Monitor lease expiry, break dates and rent review information and assist the GAEM with actioning
  • Organise meetings, take minutes and coordinate follow up actions as appropriate

  • Self-motivated with a proactive attitude
  • Good attention to detail and able to record details accurately
