Bradford District and Craven Nutrition Support Team

Permanent 1.0 wte (37.5hrs per week) 1 post – South Team

The Nutrition and Dietetic Services of Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (BTHFT) and Airedale NHS Foundation Trust (ANHSFT) are excited to announce an opportunity for anenthusiastic dietitian to develop their clinical and leadership skills within the new Bradford District and Craven (BDC) Nutrition Support Team.

The newly commissioned BDC Nutrition Support Team supports the prevention, identification and treatment of adult malnutrition across our district through:
1. Leading the development of integrated nutrition/hydration policies and clinical pathways across community settings
2. Developing and delivering education and training programmes across community health, social and voluntary care services and care homes to enable a workforce skilled in the prevention, identification and management of malnutrition and dehydration.
3. Providing home based one-to-one dietetic care for those individuals with more complex nutritional care needs
4. Raising public awareness of malnutrition and how it can be managed
5. Exploring new ways of utilising and maximising technology to support patients, carers and health professionals in treating malnutrition

You, in collaboration with other members of the team, will be responsible for the delivery of the BDC Nutrition Support Service. Working closely with patients, carers, care homes, health and care professionals, voluntary sector organisations and community partnerships, and with responsibility for the supervision of dietetic assistant practitioners once the post holder progresses to Band 6 level.

The post will suit dietetic graduates wishing to start their career in a supportive team with opportunities to progress their career, as well as experienced band 5 dietitians looking to develop their clinical and leadership skills. This new service in development, will need you to be flexible, enthusiastic with excellent communication and interpersonal skills; a great team player who enjoys working with people from all professions and able to contribute to the on the ongoing development of the team. You’ll be flexible, professional, conscientious and reliable with a positive, proactive approach to both collaborative working and autonomous working when needs require them.

The BDC Nutrition Support Team is a unique collaboration between the Nutrition and Dietetic Services of ANHSFT and BTHFT and hosts 2 clinical teams (North Team and South Team), which consist of:

  • Clinical Lead Dietitian
  • Highly specialist dietitians / Team Leads
  • Specialist Dietitians
  • Dietetic Assistant Practitioners
  • Team Admin Co-Ordinator
This is an agile working post which will include some working from home, and some office based work. This post within the South team is employed by BTHFT and clinical work will be within the South / Bradford District geographical area, but you will be required to work or travel across sites in the BDC area on occasion for team meetings etc. BTHFT Nutrition & Dietetics Department is based at St Luke’s Hospital with additional offices at Westbourne Green Community Hospital.

Applicants should be HCPC registered/registration pending dietitians.Please note this post is within the South Team. Whilst all posts are full time we welcome applications from dietitians who would like part-time hours, please state this on your application. Band 6 progression will be determined through completion of a competency framework.

Bradford’s Nutrition & Dietetic Service is a team of over 50 Dietitians and Airedale’s Nutrition & Dietetic Service is a team of over 15 Dietitians, both supported by excellent administration teams with good IT facilities and access to electronic patient records. Professional development for staff is given high priority as is quality, effectiveness and service user experience.

Bradford and Craven District is a vibrant, diverse, multicultural district with a wide range of entertainment and leisure activities available locally. There are good road/rail networks to Leeds and the M62 corridor, and easy access to the Yorkshire Dales and the South Pennines.
