Grounds Supervisor – HMP Five Wells

£27,500.00 per annum
Full Time, Permanent, 40 hours per week

The Prison is the UK’s first purpose-built, peer-led resettlement Prison. A one of a kind new generation category C new build Prison for the future; HMP Five Wells is an integral part of the local community.
G4S Care & Rehabilitation Services (CaRS) already successfully manages 5 prisons, one secure training centre and a number of community contracts in England and Wales. The philosophy of our prisons is to rehabilitate offenders and equip them to re-integrate into mainstream society on release. We seek to normalise prison conditions as far as possible to reflect life in the outside community. Our aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe.
Reporting to the Head of Soft Services, we are looking for a Grounds Supervisor to join our FM team at HMP Five Wells to manage and maintain all grounds on the prison estate. The successful candidate will be responsible for meeting all statutory, mandatory and maintenance requirements in line with the Authority established baselines and contractual obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
You will operate within a planned maintenance schedule and grounds maintenance location plan to deliver the following ongoing maintenance activities:-
- Grass cutting
- Pruning Shrubs
- Removal of moss & algae
- Removal of weeds, pests and insects
- Maintenance of planting beds, borders and planters
- Liaising with Arboriculture Specialist in planning annual tree survey and following up on any actions
- Maintenance of field and ornamental hedges
- Cleaning and maintenance of hard landscape areas
- Maintenance of ditches and ponds
- Maintenance of fences and walls
- Cleaning of external walls and surfaces including pavements and entrances
- Collection of litter from premises
- Maintenance of internal planers within client secure areas
- Cleaning of road and pedestrian signage
- Monitoring of weather and completion of winter gritting and snow clearance as required
The Ideal Candidate:
Essential Skills:
- Experience of a range of grounds maintenance activities
- Experience of building and facilities maintenance
- Qualification in grounds maintenance
Desirable Skills:
- BSC level 1 Health & Safety.
- Full, clean driving license.
- Experience of building and facilities maintenance
- Qualification in pest control and weed spraying
