About the role:
Activate Learning have an opportunity for a Grounds Maintenance Operative/Groundsperson to join our rural estates team at Merrist Wood College and work to maintain and enhance a wide range of resources across the college estate from sports pitches, lawns, hedges, beds, and borders.
This will involve general grounds maintenance, including pre and post season maintenance of our sports playing surfaces.
You will get to work on an impressive 400-acre campus with a variety of habitats and environments with many native wildlife. Merrist Wood College has a national and international reputation amongst employers and industry specialists and a long history of providing unrivalled education in the land-based sectors.
Joining this team will enable you to shape the future of the college and to ensure that it is viewed and recognised for the value that it adds to the land-based students and industries that it works to support.
We are undergoing some significant investment to transform the college into a world class facility, which includes a multimillion pound contribution from the department of education for future developments, so it’s an exciting time to join us.
Permanent, full time role
Salary: £25,927 - £26,989 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience.
What do you need to be a successful Groundsperson at Activate Learning?
You will have proven delivery of high-quality grounds and sports pitch maintenance, with a minimum of 2 years' industry experience.
About you:
- Level 2 or above in a relevant vocational qualification
- PA1 and PA6 Safe Use of Pesticides qualifications
- Tractor Driving Certification or willingness to complete training
- A full driving licence
If you have experience as a Groundsperson, Grounds Maintenance Operative, Greenkeeper or Groundskeeper, or if you have recently completed a relevant apprenticeship, then we would like to hear from you!
