• Salary starting at £23,356.74 rising to £25,862.57 after three months (subject to successful performance review period)

About the role

London Stansted Airport are seeking a Grounds Maintenance Operative to carry out landscape maintenance to the highest standard and observing best horticultural practices.

Principal Accountabilities for Grounds Maintenance Operative

• To work in a team, proactively ensuring that the landscape infrastructure (both interior and exterior) is maintained within regulatory, safety, quality and performance standards.
• Ensure that all plant and equipment is maintained in a safe operational condition. Identify promptly any faults and report to the appropriate person(s) for action
• Safe operation of machinery, wearing the necessary PPE at all times
• Winter maintenance activities which include weekend and night work on Over Time. This will be on shift rotation
• Be responsible for the execution of maintenance tasks as defined in the grounds schedule. Ensure all reactive work is acted upon and completed in line with any service level agreements and customer requirements
• Be responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety, safe working practices and legislation relevant to the External Engineering Unit
• Any other duties that are legally given by Managers and Team Leaders

Knowledge, Experience and Skills

• Professional qualification in Amenity Horticulture/Landscape Maintenance/Arboriculture or suitable experience
• Pa1/Pa6 safe use of pesticides certification (desirable)
• CS30 &CS31 chainsaw units (desirable)
• Experienced in tractor driving
• Full UK driving licence, preferably with trailer towing experience (desirable)
• Strong organisational, communication and interpersonal skills including punctuality
• Understanding of MAG’s vision
• Good communication skills
