Come and make a difference at Karbon as a Grounds Maintenance Operative
We are looking to appoint a suitably qualified and experienced individuals for the role of Grounds Maintenance Operative in the Grounds Maintenance Team. Working outdoors in all weathers using a broad range of horticultural and arboricultural equipment across Karbon to keep our customers neighbourhoods well maintained.
About the role
Our GMO’s are responsible for the upkeep of Karbon sites across the Karbon footprint, we work in all weathers using a variety of horticultural and arboricultural plant and equipment covering cyclical maintenance, garden clearances, grass cutting, and associated works as directed by the Lead Grounds Maintenance Operative.
You will operate and be responsible for a variety of ride on and other horticultural equipment and drive an allocated Karbon vehicle. With relevant experience in a similar role, you will have a strong commitment to health and safety, quality service delivery and a high level of customer care and be able to work as part of a team as well as using your own initiative. In particular Ride on Mower experience and accreditation would be advantageous.
We are looking for an experienced Operative to join and support our Grounds Maintenance team in providing an already excellent service, delivered to our customers in a way that that promotes high levels of customer focus, performance, safety, and quality, with a strong emphasis on innovation, forward thinking and continuous improvement.
A full UK driving license is essential.
About you
We are looking for candidates with drive and initiative committed to continual improvement with a high level of resilience. Candidates should have a working knowledge of a modern ground’s maintenance service and the challenges of improving areas. Experience of Ride On Mower operation would be an advantage as would experience of pesticide application. This must all be combined with a strong commitment to excellent customer service

- Grounds Maintenance Operative – Permanent role
- Salary is £20,990 per annum (pay award pending)
- Location: We have 3 vacancies; one based in Newburn and two in Chester le Street
- 37 Hours per week 07:00 – 15:00 Monday to Thursday and 07:00 – 14:30 Friday
