We are one of only three RSPCA specialist equine centres in the UK.
With a team of committed grooms, we work with abandoned, neglected and abused horses and ponies and help them find their fur-ever homes.
What does a typical day look like at RSPCA Felledge Equine Centre?
We work to prepare previously mistreated and neglected equines for adoption. The work can be challenging but immensely rewarding, following the journey of our rescued equines from intake all the way to rehoming. Previous rescue/rehab experience is not essential for this role - what's most important is your confidence around a wide range of horses and ponies, and your passion for their welfare!
You can check out more of our work and latest updates on our Facebook page.
Here's a snapshot of the key work you'll be doing:
- Health checking and assessing horses
- Lunging & long reining
- General yard duties whilst maintaining high standards
- Record keeping / completing horse welfare related paperwork
- Meeting potential adopters to find suitable forever homes for our rescued equines
What we are looking for in you:
We think this is a great role and to add value we are seeking a match of these skills, but don't worry if you don't tick every box, we'd still love to hear from you.
- In depth knowledge and experience of equine care and husbandry
- Confidence around a wide range of horses and ponies, including equines with behavioural problems
- Competent riding ability
- Good literacy skills to complete equine welfare related paperwork
- Excellent team player skills and, above all else, a passion for making a difference to the lives of rescued ponies and horses!
So if you have a positive can-do approach to daily tasks and thrive in an inclusive people orientated environment then we'd love to hear from you! (example of closing statement)
