Coleg Sir Gar have an exciting opportunity for a casual groom based at our Pibwrlwyd Campus in Carmarthen. Our Pibwrlwyd Campus is home to our equine courses and our BHS approved examination centre and yard. The campus has state of the art equine facilities, an indoor riding school, outdoor ménage, and stables accommodation for14 horses.
What will you be doing?
As a casual groom, you will have day to day responsibility for the care of our 14 horses that are kept for instruction with our learners. As part of our equine delivery team, you will be required to maintain our facilities to an excellent standard that is appropriate for a BHS examinations centre. Our grooms are role models for our learners, so you will need to set standards and examples for our learners to follow. Hours for the position can vary and will include some weekend work.
What will you need?
We are looking for someone who is passionate about working with horses and has experience of owning, or caring for horses, personally and/or professionally. You will also need good practical experience of riding and exercising a range of horses along with the confidence to be able to lead by example. Alongside this, you will need to be able to interact with, and guide our learners whilst on site at the yard.
