This is information about a vacancy for a Greenkeeper/Groundstaff. This appointment will be for a permanent full time role at Warley Woods.
The applicant would need to have experience of working in a green space and with preference should have experience working on a golf course and have used a range of machinery. The successful applicant will need be capable of working alone after induction.
The small team at Warley Woods needs to cover 7 days a week which means the successful applicant will work half days every three weeks at the weekends and will have a day off during the week in the run up to that weekend.

Status: Permanent after 6 months probation

Overall purpose of post
To ensure Warley Woods is well maintained and safe to visit by: taking a key role in carrying out grounds maintenance operations on the golf course and in the park and woodland. The course is open 364 days a year and there needs to be staff on duty each day. The post holder will be required to work on Bank Holidays and weekends in rotation.
Main duties and responsibilities
- To prepare the golf course for play including bunker raking, hole changes
- To safely use tools and equipment to undertake grounds maintenance operations up to an advanced level, including the use of powered hand tools and light plant.
- To carry out general horticultural maintenance operations including but not limited to grass cutting, hedge trimming, leaf clearance, litter picking duties, drainage, planting
- To undertake the safe application of chemicals
- To undertake chain saw work at ground level
- To undertake fine turf renovation
- To drive a wide range of vehicles as required including ‘workman’, van, tractors
(including mounted equipment), ride-on mowers
- To carry out construction labouring work, including improvements to the golf course
- To communicate with the general public, responding to and assisting in their enquiries in a friendly manner and promoting the overall work of the Community
Trust.

- To support events held at Warley Woods
