This position is responsible for developing quality design material for print and digital projects, determining materials and methods to be used, developing cost estimates and assisting with press checks ensuring products meet design specifications.
2. Creates images, graphics and photographs suitable for a variety of media, including electronic and web use. Provides direction to college photographer on photographs needed for VCC materials.
3. Consults with clients on scope, format and scheduling of projects. Provides advice on suitable formats and production specifications, prepares cost estimate and develops drafts.
4. Completes press checks in concert with marketing department staff as appropriate, ensuring final product meets quality and specification requirements.
5. Maintains digital and paper files ensuring proper archiving and back-up of files.
6. Monitors and orders graphics supplies.
7. May coordinate production with printers, photographers and other service providers.
8. Performs other related duties as required.
- Completion of 3-year College diploma from an accredited art or design program plus additional specialized training in media arts, computer graphics and design-related software and printing production and 4 years’ related experience or an equivalent combination of training and/or experience may be substituted for the required qualifications.

- Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a member of a team. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and clients.
- Excellent customer service skills with a proactive, problem-solving approach.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage several time-sensitive issues at any given time.
- Demonstrated track record designing and producing high-quality marketing collateral, communications vehicles and print advertising. Previous experience in rolling out a corporate brand.
- Creative design ability with a contemporary style suitable to a high-energy environment driven by the College’s strategic direction.
- Proficiency with various design-related software, including InDesign, PhotoShop, Illustrator, Quark, Acrobat and familiarity with MS Office Suite.
- Basic illustration skills.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
