CREATIVE DESIGNER - Halifax, NS

As a Creative Designer, you are key to guiding our customers, ensuring that their ideas translate to a variety of products. Create from scratch or consult and make improvements prior to going to print.

Before starting each project, you preflight supplied print files, based on what the client has requested. You will complete font inspection, image quality inspection and add special layers for spot UV varnishes as well as white, metallic silver, and metallic gold inks. As you are on the front lines in the branch, you are a people person and you enjoy creating high-quality final products. Your attention to detail is essential as you review work orders for accuracy, completeness, and quality control. When unexpected challenges arise, you utilize your innovative-problem solving skills to troubleshoot and consult teammates to find solutions. Each day you love coming to work in our fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

How you will make an impact


Your previous experience in a similar role at a quick print shop, or high volume faced paced printing facility will assure success in this role while you perform your duties listed here:


  • Pre-flighting Customer files against work order specifications
  • Preparing digital, offset, large format and 4-colour files for output
  • Ensuring that custom apparel graphics are setup for compatibility with our technology
  • Working with various programs: Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Pit Stop, MS Office
  • Loading and managing fonts in Extensis for PC and Mac
  • Being proficient on the latest design programs
  • Working with and manipulating printable PDF's
  • Consulting with Customers on design, layout and making revisions as required
  • Maintaining accuracy & detail in a fast paced, deadline driven environment
  • Good understanding of the Pantone Colour System, CMYK & RGB colour spaces
  • Variable Data Programming skills for MS Office and Adobe InDesign
  • XMPIE experience-barcode generation, variable imaging, variable text
  • Experience with Canada Post Street Sweeper Software
  • Solid understanding of the Canada Post High Volume Mailer regulations, templates and pricing
