Job description

About Orennia

“The impediment to action advances action. What stands in the way becomes the way.”

  • Marcus Aurelius

There are very few times in history where society has faced a critical test that forced us to align around a common objective. We are confronting such a moment today: the fight against climate change. Reducing CO2 emissions is the primary (and perhaps sole) solution. A transition to renewable electricity and zero-carbon energy is what stands in the way in reducing CO2 emissions. At Orennia, we believe what stands in the way becomes the way.

2022 saw the most investments ever in new wind and solar projects. As America de-carbonizes its energy stack, the annual investment in new power generation is expected to double by 2030.

With trillions in capital needing to be deployed, Orennia helps investors make more informed decisions using data, analytics, and machine learning/artificial intelligence.

Why Join Orennia?

At Orennia, you will become part of a collaborative culture and do work that matters. As a company in the renewable energy industry, we believe that a diversity of perspectives generates better solutions. We trust and support each other, ask hard questions and solve complex problems. Guided by a spirit of inquiry, we design for people at every scale, creating spaces that elevate individuals, their communities, and the institutions that serve them.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Graphic Designer, you’ll lead visual storytelling to propel Orennia’s brand, creatively interpreting the complexities of the energy transition into simple and engaging imagery and graphics. Collaborating with multiple teams across the company, you will seek, interpret and translate messages into designs that connect. This role is a hybrid role with 4 days in the Calgary office and 1 flex day a week. Please include professional work samples or a link to your portfolio as part of your application.

What You'll Do

  • Lead visual storytelling across content marketing initiatives, campaigns, digital platforms, presentations, communications, published collateral, in-person experiences and more.
  • Create effective visuals that achieve project goals while they support client engagement and drive brand resonance.
  • Collaborate, ideate and strategize with leadership, the marketing team, subject matter experts and other teams.
  • Champion, uphold, and continuously enhance Orennia’s visual identity to drive brand alignment across all touchpoints.
  • Support contracted graphic designers and collaborate with external agencies to ensure they’re set up for success and their work is an accurate representation of Orennia’s brand.
  • Empower internal teams to be active brand champions and leverage Orennia’s visual identity tools.

Who You Are

  • 5+ years of experience in visual design, preferably including experience in a B2B space.
  • Some experience with motion graphics along with design for websites and/or digital platforms.
  • A willingness to roll up your sleeves, jump in where you’re needed and work both strategically and tactically to support an agile and growing team.
  • Finely tuned organizational skills with an ability to manage your assets, projects and time for a high level of productivity.
  • Strong communication skills and a level of comfort working directly with senior leadership and clients to understand, champion and action visual communications.
  • Exceptional Adobe Suite skills honed through years of practice.
  • A keen interest in the latest graphic design trends, technologies and tools with demonstrated success bringing new approaches into team workflows.
  • A relevant post-secondary education in graphic design.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating conceptual thinking, breadth of projects, familiarity with digital media and execution of design.
  • A keen interest in the energy transition and a connection with Orennia’s mission.
  • You hold Canadian citizenship, Permanent Residency, or refugee status and have the ability to travel internationally to support local events.

We thank all applicants in advance for their interest in our organization and for taking the time to apply; however, only applicants invited for an interview will be contacted.

Our Pledge to Fostering an Inclusive and Safe Workplace:
