This is an exciting opportunity to help Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT) highlight and explain the care it offers by creating on-brand designed content that is engaging, accessible and effective at reaching defined audiences.
KMPT provides a wide range of adult mental health and learning disability services to our local population of 1.8 million people in Kent and Medway, as well as specialist services for adults in Sussex and Surrey. Each year we care for over 2,000 people in our hospitals and 54,000 people in the community.
If you are successful, you will be a vital part of our high-performing and friendly communications team. You will play an important role in the team's work to build the trust’s profile and enhance its communication efforts by creating high quality products that are suitable for different audiences with different needs - from staff to service users - and advising on the development of the organisation’s brand.
You will advise on and design products for both internal and external work, and create designs for a wide range of mediums or uses – including website, social media, video, print and display.
- To create and deliver high quality, compelling and engaging visual designs that meet the needs of their defined audiences - including staff, the public, service users, carers, volunteers and partners.
- To work productively with communications colleagues and internal clients to advise on the best way of illustrating and communicating projects’ key strategic objectives, while complying with design best practice and NHS and KMPT brand guidelines.
- To effectively communicate with and manage internal clients during product development – including providing high standard proofs for approval and meeting agreed delivery timescales.
- To independently oversee business as usual requests and effectively balance these against requests for work to fulfil strategic objectives.
- To support the head of brand and digital communications to transform our brand.
- To build effective relationships externally and internally.

The communication and engagement team is a high-performing and friendly team dedicated to supporting clinical colleagues provide the best possible care, support and advice to service users, their loved ones and carers by providing high-quality communications materials that meet the needs of a range of different audiences. This includes our staff who work in a variety of locations across Kent and Medway.

- Produce compelling, high quality design work that delivers against the brief set, is suitable for a range of channels, products and mediums where needed and will engage the required audiences.
- Apply creative and strategic thinking to offer design solutions that support internal stakeholders’ needs, communicate key messages in a visually impactful way and actively engage the specified audiences.
- Build effective relationships with colleagues across the trust by setting expectations early on, agreeing how projects will be delivered collaboratively, provide different concepts to choose from where required, produce proof materials for approval to agreed timelines and manage adjustments to agreed work in a professional manner.
- Work closely with all colleagues in the communications team to support ongoing efforts to improve its work’s impact both internally and externally, with a particular focus on growing the creativity and maturity of digital communications products.
- Prioritise and organise own work schedule to ensure deadlines are met and client expectations are well-managed.
- Manage effective relationships with suppliers, including printers and merchandisers, to place orders and secure value for money for the trust. Be aware of and comply with procurement processes when securing such suppliers and ensure all suppliers deliver value for money.
- Keep up to date with industry and best practice developments in order to enhance the existing graphic design service provided.
- Ensure all graphic design material follows NHS and trust guidelines and standards and ensure brand consistency across campaigns, sub-brands, logos and activity.
- Develop and maintain a trust library to host photographs, leaflets and templates for ongoing staff use, this should include all the necessary supporting tools such as permission forms. Take and edit photographs as required.
- Be proactive in identifying opportunities to develop yourself, others and the Trust’s communications.
